With trance I think you should let your mixes flow from one record into the next one. I work a lot with tone-adjustments (treble, middle and bass, you know what I mean), sometimes subtile, sometimes less subtile. I'll use them also when I'm not in the mix, just playing one record. So effects are there, but less recognizable as crossfaders, kills etc.
as for techno and acid, I think you make music much more interesting if you use those techniques, and it's also more suitable for those genres. But then again, listening to music, playing music and making music all depends on taste, so everybody will think differently about it.

I finally found the time to listen to your set... glad I did because I liked it very much! I think it's perfect to get in the mood before going out...
