I've just listened to this set...actually I listened in 2 parts, the first was a couple of nights ago. I think the first half was alright, nothing special. Didn't play enough trancey trance as I'd hoped, but most of the tunes were good and most mixing was fine, save for a few dodgy ones.
The second half is better, full of energy, good tunes, good mixing, and it flows pretty well. I'd love to see PVD when he's playing like that
I'd say 1st half is a 7, the 2nd half is a 9 - overall 8
My favourite PVD set is the Essential Mix live from Home, London in April 2000. Can't fault a minute of it, I never get bored of hearing it, it has special memories from nights listening to it with mates, and is quite simply 120 minutes of trance perfection.
ok well maybe that's going a bit far but it's pretty good!
Also, I know he plays different for each crowd, but that's one of the things that sets him above most other DJs. People in different countries aren't all interested in the same kind of music. Without wanting to be too stereotypical, Dutch are a lot into melodic trance, Germans into harder/techier, Swiss into fast cheesy stuff (imo!), Israelites into psy, Brits into ??whatever??, etc. so he alters his style to make the best entertainment to the audience he's playing to
