Err well... if you ask me personally (being a tiesto 'fan', for want of a better word.. it's not like I worship the guy or anything), the length, the overall superior sound/light setup, the atmosphere inside the venue and the increased probability of all-time favourites being dropped as well as the latest tunes... he played alot of classics in TiC last year & tunes I haven't seen/heard him play before. Sure there are loads of clubs which do classics nights but not at that capacity! The crowd reaction must be immense.

About the additional shows being just icing on the cake... each to their own I guess. I thought they made up the 'extras' pretty well and contributed nicely to the overall experience (going by the DVD alone).

I do agree with you about the hype/cult status though... I don't like the overall image it's been given. But then again it's only done just to get greater numbers, I guess. It would probably work just as well with a crowd half the size, but making as much money as possible appears to be the prime intention of the organisers... which is a shame.

I would love to go to that event...even though im not a tiesto fan. I'm sure the atmosphere would make up for any trainwrecks.

It's not so much that I don't think it would be cool (if I were a tiesto fan), but its a matter of a) the hype, and b) the price.

And the price is the other thing that gets me as well. If I were a huge tiesto fan, I still wouldn't pay $70 for one set - that's absurd. I'd really like to know how the hell they can get away with charging that much. To compare, lets put TiC side by side with, say, Ultra 5, an event I attended for $50.

For $70 you get TiC, featuring:

- One DJ to pay
- One stage/booth (one pair of techs, one pair of CDJ's, one mixer, etc)
- One giant sound system

For $50 you get Ultra, featuring:

- 150-200 DJs to pay (including huge names like PvD, Tiesto, Pete Tong, Sasha/Diggers, Oakie, Sander K, many many many more)
- 9-10 stages/booths
- 9-10 sound systems

That same $70 gets you into Mysteryland, featuring many more stages with many many more DJs, that obviously must cost a lot more to setup.

And that's why I really think TiC is such a joke. Because of Tiesto's bloated popularity, people will pay out the ass for this, and ID-T knows it. I paid $13 for VIP to see Zabiela, and that came with a pre-party on the roof with all you could eat sushi (free). And the turnout was tiny compaired to TiC (a few hundered people vs 25,000). There's just no possible reason why one night with one DJ should cost $70. It's pure money grubbling, and it's absurd.

Heh... trainwrecks are basically when the beats go horribly off-sync aren't they? I'll admit he isn't the best technical DJ in the world but his beatmatching has always seemed pretty sound to me.. it's the EQs & volume levels which he normally fucks up on, fading them out & in at the wrong times, d'oh!

I've heard some sets where his phrase matching is just not there... Also i've heard him do massive platter bends during a 30 second or so mix...theres just no excuse for that happening, i mean carl cox does it every now and again, but its to be expected when hes keeping mixes together for minutes, and handling 3+ tables.
But im not bashing tiesto...like i said id love to go to that event.

nrjizer: True... I can't argue with any of that last post. Looking at it rationally like that, it's definitely overpriced. No doubt loads of people who pay the amount will feel it's worth it, because of the overall atmosphere & experience (I would too)... however I think it's morally wrong for ID-T/Tiesto's management to assume that. Like you say it's money grubbling... profit margin is a greater priority for them than creating a respectable image, but they can get away with it because of Tiesto/ID-T's popularity. It's all business to them really, I guess.

Nngh... bugs me thinking about it now, haha. How hypocritical I'd be if I went to this after slating the pop industry over all these years. Oh well, such is life.

Oh my personal opinion, I doubt I'd pay to go but the atmosphere would be unique, so I might go if I lived near the concert but I doubt I'd really want to go. 70 bucks for a ticket is steep imo

I think part of it is whether or not you're a fan. If you're a fan, then it's worth it. If you're not, then it's not. Depending on how you view an artist can affect your view on the event.

But that's just my view on it.

I agree with Jessica S., Tiesto used to be amazing back in the day, now he is just spat out commercial bullshit, just look at the way he promotes his concerts and cd's, "Just Be" haha, why doesnt he try and stop copying calvin klein for one, and go back to his original style. Going from a ambient epic trance dj, to tech trance is lame for one, his sets are awful now, I love his old compilations, but anything from Nyana and up is just staright horrible, that and his sets, how can you call him a trance dj anymore, u really can't. I've listened to the guy since Space Age 2.0, the Forbidden Paradise comps and the early Magik's but have the balls to say that hes no where close to what he was years ago, people should get their heads out of their asses and see for what he really is. His Tiesto in Conert is going to have guest appearances come on stage....wow, lame. A dj's job is to be humble/modest, be about the crowd and the music, not have the guy be a fucking spotlight whore and endorse his own name for the sake of selling records. I used to be for the love of the scene, now its Tijs Buttseks antics with these new albums.
