I see your point, but I am taking a very reasonable stance for this FIRST letter. Hopefully I will receive some sort of response which I can use to decide the tone of any future letters, possibily going into votes, rallying support, etc, etc. Moving out of the region (which I plan to do anyways, but I'll say I'll do it cuz of these charges)
There are several facts I have left out of the letter.
ONE, they are introducing these new special event bylaws because of WEMF, which had a privately funded security staff that was effective at securing the site. BUT, the recent Wasaga Beach Blues Festival paid
over $25,000 to the OPP for security... and the cheques bounced. The point? The Blue Festival got little more than a tap on the wrist.
Also, the one neighbour closest to the fairgrounds had called other neighbours, getting them to complain every hour on the hour (according to police reports). I don't know if this is the same guy, but there is someone who lives near the fairgrounds that bitches and moans for ANYTHING going on at the fairgrounds cuz it "scares his cows". Apparently he dumped cow shit all along the fence at the side of the fairgrounds during the GNE (the local county fair)
I think out of town letter writers can address the business they brought to the town. Something like
"I paid $50 for gas at a Clearview gas station, I spent $10 on water at a Clearview convience store, I spent $25 at the Clearview food stands in the festival, etc, etc. Now multiply that by 8000+ tourists who came to this area, ask yourself if you really want to turn away that revenue."
REMEMBER, this issue is not just about the noise charges, it's also about these strict new bylaws they are proposing because of WEMF, when they don't really need new bylaws. It's just grouchy old farmers vs. partying youth.
