Yeah it's a bad pic, but it kinda shows the position of the half crescent of the moon, and it was definitely something i'd not seen before, I think I took a couple of pictures of it on one of my films but I'm not entirely sure, but it was weird to see it almost 'the wrong way' round

just to add, these islands are just off the coast of west Africa, you can see them in relation to Morocco here

I'm presuming that since it's closer to the equator and so on that it's a geographical explanation, but if anyone knows the official reasoning i'd be intrigued to find out
