If you think there are no real boundaries between techno and house, you probably don't listen to house.

And I think there is no real boundary between house and techno, both styles have got a lot in common and can be combined very well. Thinking in narrow genres is for the uncreative people anyway.

Right on! The fact it's released on UR gives it some psychological weight... just like you might think all on Anjunabeats is trance, or just like you come to associate your favorite TV character with certain traits. I think of it as coming full circle, since the Bellevue Three and more listened to house and disco music, and among other things, they didn't have live bands to come up with their own vision, so they programmed this robotic funk.

I do. Believe me.

I suspect you just listen to a certain type of techno, which is pretty distant from house music as you know it. Try some stuff by Kevin Saunderson, Derrick May, heck, anything related to UR, then come back and tell me techno and house are still distant from each other.

Even Carl Cox has lots of house influences in his sets, and the last time I checked, most people consider him to be a techno DJ.

You think in genres and pigeonholes too much, I'm afraid.

You're talking about tech-house (or maybe detroit house, i'll just use tech-house though). Just because there's a subgenre of house with techno influences doesn't mean there is a fine line between techno and house. That's like saying there's a fine line between epic trance and techno because you heard some tech-trance tracks. Tech-House sucks anyway, because it takes the funk and soul away from the house part, and the coldness, impersonality, and rhythm away from the techno aspect. What you're left with is neither techno nor house, but some kind of weird boring hybrid. Just housey sounds played in a more repetitive way. OOO that's some goood shiet.
