I do. Believe me.
I suspect you just listen to a certain type of techno, which is pretty distant from house music as you know it. Try some stuff by Kevin Saunderson, Derrick May, heck, anything related to UR, then come back and tell me techno and house are still distant from each other.
Even Carl Cox has lots of house influences in his sets, and the last time I checked, most people consider him to be a techno DJ.
You think in genres and pigeonholes too much, I'm afraid. |
You're talking about tech-house (or maybe detroit house, i'll just use tech-house though). Just because there's a subgenre of house with techno influences doesn't mean there is a fine line between techno and house. That's like saying there's a fine line between epic trance and techno because you heard some tech-trance tracks. Tech-House sucks anyway, because it takes the funk and soul away from the house part, and the coldness, impersonality, and rhythm away from the techno aspect. What you're left with is neither techno nor house, but some kind of weird boring hybrid. Just housey sounds played in a more repetitive way. OOO that's some goood shiet.
