I like football, I think that is rather innovative upon inception.

Hockey seems to steal some ideas from football anyway.

I agree that hockey uses aspects of several sports, including football...then it's played on ice....and that makes it more technical and skillful than many other sports.

But to use your argument...Here's a field...here's a ball...both around already, so lets kick the ball around the field, and to make it interesting, we'll sacrifice the losing team to the God's (things they also did on a regular basis)...so I argue that it wasn't any more innovative than any other sport developed. All sports use aspects of items that are already in use, or available and develop new rules as it evolves (or devolves in the views of many)...i.e. American FB, vs Rugby, vs. Football Football.

I can make this argument with any sport that is out there. I don't argue which ones are better than others...but I tend to follow/play certain ones these days.

(and I assume you meant what we call soccer over here)

Just because you play on skates doens't make it better, or more technical or skillful, it just makes it more stupid.

Its like forcing football players to run on one leg with one hand behind their back, sure it might be hard, but it would also be quite shit.

you snowboard right spec? lets see wasn't that a spinoff of skateboarding?

Like, "we've got an mountain full of snow, now what sort of sport can we invent?".

Yeah, but as much as I like snowboarding, I wouldn't really call it a sport either.

Same goes with American Football....except there are no pucks and I have yet to hear of someone killed because a pigskin decapitated someone's head.

But back to hockey, an example of the importance of padding:

Remember that one girl that was in the stands a couple of years back? The one that was killed because the puck's flight was really messed up and nailed her in the head. Poor girl and I'd hate to use her as an example like this, but it just proves the importance of padding equipment.

I thought the game last night was awesome! Canada severely out played USA in the first, with shots against at 24-6 and chances to score for the US at a big ZERO

I'll be at the game tonight, can't wait!

(and ignore trolls like spec, he obviously knows nothing about the sport)

I love hockey. Watching it on TV is nothing like going to a game. The energy is awesome! Same thing goes for football (American football).

Real football is better, and the atmosphere at cricket is also electric, esp when you beat the Indians like we did today
