Those of you that replied did an excellent job.
The best advice I could give is the following:
A. You the DJ Virgin.
The whole club thing is a bunch of bullsh!t. Unless you know someone or are super talented forget about it. Its 98% political and 2% talent in the clubs, IMO. So unless you know someone or your name is Armin Van Buuren goodluck !
Secondly clubs are a business. Clubs are run to make money, not to educate people on music ( unlike what we dj's tend to think). If you can show the club owner that you can bring 200-300 ppl to the club to waste $$ on drinks he will hire you ; even if you suck big d#ck behind the decks. Once again who you know and how many people you know is the name of this money game. The sad story is that because $$$ is an important player in the club owners mind the whole artist thing that all of us djs tend to dream of (i.e. trying to introduce people to new music , etc. ) is a fantasy.
Thirdly, I am not sure where you live but here in Chicago people dont go out to listen to music sadly. The lame-@sses here like to go out to get wasted, hit on girls, and dance to cheese ball music everyone else thinks is cool becuase they are to insecure of them selves (i.e. think rap) . Clubing in Chicago, unlike what we dj's want to beleive , is not about educating people about new music. No, its more about a scene and show put on by the club to get people to spend money at the bar. Its crass tasteless society at its best here in the big city.
Fourthly, there are about a million other people out there that are doing exactly what your doing or want to do. Their are djs buying those same "hidden" records and trying to be different as well. Its CRAZY how many poeple are a "dj" !!
After reading all this crap I posted and you continue to want to spend money on records and dj equipment than welcome to the club!!
You have the heart and mind of a true dj!

B. Post Cheery Popped
Ok so you still love the music, you still want to share it with people, and you dont care if your not gonna be tiesto. is it all hopeless!?
These are a few things we all can do to change the world and improve EDM.
1) Host parties ( make sure to have plenty of free beer). Change peoples minds about music this way. Be creative. Maybe do a masive party with alot of ameateur djs or something. Think small first; with time bigger ideas and opppotunities will exist.
2) Pass out free cds of your mixes to all your friends every month.
3) When your old enough start your own club BUT realize that you unlike the others will focus your attention & money on the music not the astetics of the club. This will help pave the way for the future wave of clubbers who will appericate the music and the dj NOT todays clubbers filled with proanda of MTV and mass media.
4) Network and meet people. Talk to other dj's. Team up. Do something!!
Judgeing from your comments you seem to be of strong will and strong convictions. Just never forgot them; remeber why you started this afterall. Becuase one day you will have to dig down in your soul and find it again.
