Strongly disagree. His track selection is fantastic. As much as I like the dutch armada (AvB, Tiesto, Ferry), there hasn't been a single time I've seen GA (about six times now) that I wouldn't take his track selection over those guys: he's always been better in that department, IMO. He may not have 2/3's of his set be unreleased stuff, but I honestly think that it's a step above. He's the only one that consistently crosses the bridge between epic trance and really hard german trance.
From the interactions I've had with him and close friends who've spent time with him, he's not an asshole: he is pretty damn introverted, though, and kind of shy...definitely not the most bubbly person in the world. The only problem I see with GA is that he usually doesn't play as well if the crowd is even somewhat close to beingsparse, so he's inconsistent. But if the place is packed he's awesome. The first time I saw him play, at Arena during the Labor Day weekend 2002, was the best set I've ever heard anyone play....ever. No one has even come close. Well over 1000 people were literally out of breath, hanging on the railings and crap, refusing to go home that night.
Now, I sort of agree with you about Irene. Her mixing skills aren't that good at all, and she can deliberately get cheesy with the hardhouse anthems. I still don't think she should be taken out and shot, though: maybe Micro, but not her .

George Acosta is terrible! Functionally and track selection and he's an asshole. He and Irene should be taken out back and shot! |
