but i've never heard any redsox fans getting beat up "making the news" ala boston news.

i would never ignore the 80's and early 90's. first off we didnt suck, and i wouldnt call watching Donnie Baseball chase the batting title every year boring either. maybe we didnt win world championships in that era, but the yankee pride and tradition were just as strong then as it is today.

No one is more clutch in the playoffs than the Yankees.

El Duque is undefeated this season so far and his ERA is 2.47.
Kevin Brown might be alittle old, but he has the experience that they would want in the playoffs.
Moose, well hes up and down... usually down - If the Yankees should have gotten rid of anyone, moose should have been it.
Javier Vasquez, got a gun for an arm, but hes easy to hit which shows in his 6.40 ERA.
Loaiza was a bust for the Yanks, good thing it was only a 1 year deal.
Lieber has been playing well as of late.
Mo is virtually unhittable in the playoffs.
Gordon and Quantrill are really nice to have as releivers.

Jeter is Mr. Playoffs.
Williams, is an RBI machine in the playoffs.
Sheffield is AL MVP.

It will be difficult to beat the Yanks.

Sheffield is the AL MVP to Yankee fans as of now. He hasn't won anything yet and Manny Ramirez has better numbers in every 'MVP' category. And the Yankees have been good in the WS, I agree. But this is 2004, and last time I checked, this year hasn't happened already. This Yankee team is completely different than any of the past 8 years. With those players, they should have over 100 games won already. Though, the same thing can be said for the Red Sox. I personally would love to see the Twins and the Braves. Though that would be a very boring WS for most people.

The argument shouldn't been based solely on who has the best offensive numbers (although of course they are the biggest factor). They actually have another award for best offensive player. It should be Most Valuable Player. The guy that is most valuable to his team winning. Last year A-Rod winning was a joke. What did the Rangers win? Gary Sheffield has had countless big time hits to tie games or put them in the lead and all with playing with a jacked up shoulder. Plus, his defense is better than ManRam. ManRam's defense is horrible... the dude cut off a throw from the center fielder (???).

The numbers are close but the edge does go to ManRam which makes me 50/50 on the subject. The Yankees are in first so that gives 1 pt to Sheff (Sheff is valuable to his team being in first, ManRam is more valuable to his team being in 2nd).

AVG HR RBI OBP SLG RUNS SO
Manny Ramirez .306 41 120 .396 .611 100 117
Gary Sheffield .297 36 117 .399 .552 112 76

Again, tough to call. Let's see how the season finishes. There is plenty of sports people at ESPN, Sporting News, etc. who talk of Sheffield winning the MVP, it's just not us Yankee fans.

But I am not so selfish because once you enter my house it then becomes our house and our house music and you see no one man owns house because house music is a universal language spoke and understood by all. You see, house is a feeling that no one can understand really unless you're deep into the vibe of house. House is an uncontrollable desire to jack your body and as I told you before this is our house and our house music. In every house you understand, there is a keeper and in this house the keeper is Jack.

I went to Sunday's past game Yanks vs Sox and took the train there...and on the train i was sitting next to two redsox fans who were in a discussion about the rivalry and had said "if a yankee fan says something to me i'll just punch him in his mouth" I just turned and looked at him, didn't say a word. He wasn't this huge big guy, actually he was rather skinny and middle eastern or indian. I mean not for nothing but he was on a train with a mix of Yankee and Boston fans. It was great for baseball, the rivalry between yankee and redsox will never be lived up against in any other sport.

Although I wasn't in the conversation, I don't think the mentality that the person had was necessary. Not to mention him saying "I play for the yankees" in a chinese mocking voice. I brushed my shoulder off.

And my next experience in Boston, I visited some friends at Northeastern and was at a pizza shop wearing a yankee's cap. People got in my face, literally like surrounding me all brave. I'll suck my pride, I took it off and put it in my book bag. I didn't say anything to them, clearly I was out numbered and clearly I didn't want to get into no fight. Now is this all necessary?

Granted boston fans come to yankee stadium, receive alittle heckling in the stands but to what extent outside the baseball game/field should the rivalry carry on? The point is soo moot, its beaten to death, still what is it that Boston is so bitter about? Yes competition draws sharp edges and being bitter about it doesn't help a team win. My point being, and I'm not trying to say anything or start anything, but if Boston loses, why can't the damn fans just accept it? Instead of being bitter, just accept that this time you didn't beat the yankees.

When Boston beats the yankees, our fans dont get bitter, nor do we trash talk or boast about anything. Ignorance is bliss..

on a somewhat related note...

why do fans everywhere but new york riot when their team is in a final of some sort, regardless of result.

should've kept wearing that yankees hat. if u've got love for your team show it. even philly fans don't really try and start something, and this was when i was wearing a giants jersey at school. that rivalry goes a long way too, but it's civilized, somewhat, away from the playing field...

i bet that dude was nothing but a big talker. all u needed to have said was 1918, smiled then kept going on your way. there's no amount of smack or fight that can change that fact.

again i swallowed my pride but is that type of confrontation necessary for such a rivalry. How low does it have to be taken before the rivalry is deemed foolish? Should we start rampaging Boston spray painting yankee signs and setting cars on fire? I mean its like you have to bully someone in a rivalry. I'm sorry it hits home to these Boston fans and the chip on their shoulder is still sour and bitter but come on already, let the rivalry exist without the immature, uncivilized acts. GROW UP ALREADY! If you lose, you lose suck it up and walk, and if you win you win no need to say WE BEAT YOUR ASSES ETC

it's just that red sox fans are obnoxious in general

When I was at SBC park labor day weekend, after telling a few of the fans and ushers that I am a yankees fan, they LOVED to go off on how obnoxious and crass red sox fans are when the red sox were in town playing the giants.
