As much as I can understand what you're saying there Jan, I think it's the wrong attitude to have about it, the only way the forums will improve is if the people who treasure them most put a lot of effort in themselves to make it a better place, we could sit here complaining all week but i'd rather try to make it a better place and fail to do so than just sit back and quit the forum or something

True, but what can you do? Campaign for a change of mentality to posting? Excluding members who aren't contributing "properly"? Ban promotional posts? Regardless of what you might try, this problem won't go away when TA is as big as it is now. You can of course be up front as a good example of how to post, but beyond that I fail to see what sort of action that'll resolve the issue. It's just something you have to live with to a certain extent.

again in agreement
Hopefully we can pick some of these points out and put them to Del, will be interesting for the respected users to put the points forward in a suggestion and for del to gauge our feelings on things.

So if someone is without internet for half a year, yet have been one of the most active and helpful members around, they should still lose their account?

*flush out members who's COR post count exceeds their total posts in every other forum <-- this is the biggest annoying thing on TA these days.

This is assuming that everybody with bigger COR post count are just spamming about posting nothing but complete nonsense. While this is true in some cases, it certainly doesn't apply to everyone.

Not gonna work. The spammers will still be around in other forums regardless.

*have a favourites forum i.e. best track of 1999, longest track ever etc.

Could work, but unless there is a proper definition at each forum of what's going in there and what's not, we'd just have the same problems here as with new releases/MD. "Best track of 1999" is just as much music discussion as anything else in that forum.
Or, certain mods could start being a bit more active.
