When I was living in Austria, I had a friend named Michael, whom we used to call Michi. It's hard to explain becuase the sound doesnt exist in english. It does exist in arabic, hebrew, russian and a few other languages. It's like your scratching the back of your throat with air. or the sound you make when you're trying to hork a lougie.

i know its hard! every time i try, the phlegmy sound seems to have an "r" sound to it and michi gets pissed. so all help is definitely welcome!

Thing is... you pronounce the ch/k part softly. When trying to say it for the first time, it might come out too spitty and hard. Key is... control the roll.
