Although there are auroras in Antarctica (Aurora Australis), you'll find the most spectacular ones in the northern hemisphere (in Canada, for example)--the Aurora Borealis, or "Northern Lights."

Those nothern lights are the most beautiful things that we see on earth without a doubt Amazing.

55,000ft?

The clouds are too thick and too close to the camera for it to be that high. For some perspective this is the view from 58,000ft and you can see the aircraft at 35,000ft as little spots on the clouds going backwards! The sky above you at that height is eerily indigo
