Hey Jason, I'm glad to meet someone open minded like yourself, I too can't stand all that childish criticism, but you know it's better to just ignore it if you can't make some people even listen to what you have to say.

Have you ever been to Samothraki??
Tell me more about the kind of music you listen to and play?
Do you also produce??

By the way, don't feel dumb for asking that question, I wish I could answer it but I don't have enough expertise to.

Aura is something that is scintifically proven, and it is not just psy ppl (psy ppl only like to talk about it) but it is the mystic sages and shamans that use these things in there life.
It basically something like everyone has a energy around them called aura, and if you can understand it , it can help improve your life and maybe even heal you from things like cancer, but I don't know much about it. People that do LSD are of course, very fascinated by things like this, coz when they tripping they probably catch a glimpse of things like this
Anyways, you can always learn more from reading books

Peace bro

Auras have been scientifically proven? Links please!

The closest I know of it, experiments in meditation have elicited results within cancer patients, stressed-out individuals, and people affected by other afflictions of the mind, body and soul. People imagine a healing aura and results are observed - nothing has been officially proven, as who is to say that the person would not have been cured anyways or that they're not just administering themselves a mental placebo?

Anyways...

Good to see someone who enjoys their music so much! It's kind of refreshing, as most people on these boards only bicker about how much they hate each other's music (even though it all sounds alike)

The only real Psy/Goa I've experienced would be through Oakenfold's CDs 'Fluoro' was absolutely excellent and 'A Voyage Into Trance' was...uh...ok. But I suspect I'm not getting the true PsyTrance experience - is there a single-best Psy album out there? (this is, of course, your opion I'm asking - I know there's no such thing as a 'best album evar!')

LOL Ok so maybe I was just rambling on there...but I thought that they were scintifically proven
You of course seem to have more knowledge than be so I will take your word there is no real proof.
As for the part where you mention "who is to say that the person would not have been cured anyways or that they're not just administering themselves a mental placebo?"
I believe that anything can be cured as long as you have the faith and will power to fight it...I may be out of line again but that is just I feel

I wish there was a single-best album even in my opinion but unfortunately I cannot help you there.
What I will suggest is the following:

http://www.di.fm/ - Online radio - scroll down and click on the GOA/PSY TRANCE LINK (DUH!)

http://www.philosomatika.com/ - another online radio

Keep in mind that there are several styles of PSY/GOA which can be as unique as say Classical is from Hip Hop, but nevertheless they all share the same 'psychedelicness' so to speak, in their own way of course.

Some of my fav artisits range from

Ol Skool - before 2000 -
Infected Mushroom (Oldest Albums)
Skazi (First 2 albums)
Doof, Prana, Infinity Project (Ol skool Goa classic)
Parasense

New Skool

Digital Talk
Jirah
Transdrive
Kluster
Shift
Twisted System
Scorb and I could go on and on

Hope this helps

Why don't you tell me a bit on the kind of music you listen to and suggest some artists, I'm always open to different kinds of music...

Respect!

I do love goa, but I prefer the more melodic stuff than the crazy/wierd noises/witchcraft-type stuff. Stuff like Astral Projection, Etnica, Shpongle, Hallucinogen, etc. One of my favourite tracks is Astral Projection - Heavens Gate.

Any recommendations?

In case you somehow haven't figured it out, I was being sarcastic.

I love psy, but the more melodic kind as the poster above me mentioned. I like the fx-centered psy, but I can listen to the more melodic psy for longer periods of time.

Goa though is the really interesting genre imo. The same psy effect but through organic elements. Essentially it's just a modernized version of what's been happening for the past few thousand years in the form of the hypnotic tribal music, only with more elements. Not to mention how synths by themselves can have more of an innately hypnotic sound than organic instruments...that in itself makes goa more of a challenge to create and, imo, more rewarding to listen to.

But I still love the synth-heavy stuff

I just can't get into psy trance simply because ..

A. I can't stand the kick drums
B. It's way too hectic

did I mention the kicks?

pics = lol

But yea psy just seems abit too simple for me, like not much going on apart from about 3 different sythns at one time.

Is it just cause the producers arnt too good with a synthesiser?

Don't like psy, far too pretentious. Although Juno Reactor rock.
