Maybe TranceAddict should invest into some of Homeland security measures. Example- when logging in, you could see a bar or level meter that indicates the level of flaming threat that day, so it can prevent people from realizing certain thread terrorist are planning to destroy your self esteem.

I don't know about you guys but I just don't have time to read every thread and babysit the trolls, it is easier to just get rid of them. It is the same people, every single time that fuck up and I'm not saying we mods are perfect. My history flaming wise, goes back to 2001 and I've told some of the tossers off, now they just get added to ignore because I rather not reply to their stupidity. Just remember, most of mods have lives (if you think we don't, that's your opinion). I don't know much about that thread, I was at work, so I have no clue what the hell happened.

No. People should grow up and stop being so sensitive. If you need a mommy and daddy moderator to ensure that everybody plays "nice" on the internets than you're going to have far greater problems to worry about in life.

Well, when you take it out of context like that, if you read from the first page, you can kindly see that I voiced an opinion that I thought he was crazy for hearing colours. Upon explaining what he meant, I took back the comment, and said he was a New Age Hippie. I never flamed him, you can take it as a flame, but its a neither good or bad. Shortly after, this is where it gets nasty...

Yes, that was Xenocreator_PG_ who decided to step up to the plate, and I dished out back something to silence him.

Most people think that I do this for enjoyment, or some sick twisted pleasure, and their right. But the important thing is that if you dont want to start a flame war, you cant give people like me something to talk about.

Anyhow, these outbursts are just phases, we come and go like the season's, you can expect some quiet time soon. Mid Terms almost over, I get to go out and have fun and party once again!

P.S. Dont take things seriously people, and enjoy the burns.

You're just misunderstood.

Exactly. If people don't have the maturity to deal with or ignore comments they don't like on the forums, then their parents probably shouldn't be allowing them on the internet to begin with.

If we're going to start assuming everyone here is that immature, then we might as well prohibit any sexually suggestive content, ban people who talk about drugs or alcohol, change the forum colors to pink and white, and instill John Ashcroft, Richard Simmons, and torontotrance as moderators.

i am sorry but i disagree. sure we should moderate anything that may be illegal or highly offensive, but we know from experience that people dont like it when we do take action in petty little flame wars such as the example in the original post. we get accused of heavy-handedness. the only time a moderator should step in is when the thread has lost its original plot and has decended into total shite, or if a user is getting a lot of abuse and can't take it any more.

we havent got eyes in the back of our heads, nor can we see everything when we are not on the internet. if a thread that does seem like it needs moderation is not moderated, the chances are there isn't a mod online who can deal with it. shit, thats life. we always try to get everything that needs sorting, sorted. but at the end of the day we will always miss the odd one here and there. if a user has a specific problem then he or she is free to contact any of the admin to make a complaint about the user via PM or e-mail.

people seem to forget that people who flame don't get any pleasure from it if you don't rise to it and react.

yes it really is that simple.

the fact of the matter is, WE are the moderators here, and WE decide how to do our work. if there needs to be a change in moderating policy then we will decide that, not you. i happen to think the moderators of this site do a fantastic job in keeping the place relaxed and not too strict. on a lot of forums this thread would have been deleted by now, but as a few have said, this is the chillout room, (nearly) anything goes. this IS the trash can of the forums, where all the shite goes to keep the rest of the forums clean

I personally agree, and I actually do this whenever I can. Talking to people may bring better results than just punishing them, in my opinion, although I reckon it's sometimes hard to talk to someone who excels in being an obnoxious bastard. I don't want to be here just to ban people - I'd like to think I can help them as well. However, I can't do this much often.

Reason why I think mods should police flame war. These discussions we have here on TA should be constructive and helpful. Certainly, there should be space for random mindless fun, but there must be a limit.

This forum helped me a lot as well, and no matter how right someone's words might be, harshness hardly ever help.

i dont think you, arbiter, have the authority to decide if a thread is stupid or not.

No one has - we have only the authority to say what's being abusive, but what may be "stupid" for me may be something "interesting" to someone else, so we've got to respect the difference.
