It is great to see the big name Djs earn so much for spinning.

Many people will only attend clubs and pay decent prices for big name Djs, and how many people got their first taste of edm and got hooked after a night seeing some huge name.

The best thing is that real lovers of edm know that most of the best music and best nights are ones where some unknown, obscure, underground or up-and-coming Dj spins, and its always cheaper and attracts a much more down to earth and fun loving crowd.

Well, of course big names make big money . But sometimes it's going to far ... Like here tonite, Benny Benassi will spun in a small venue club ( around 500 people ) and he asked over 10 000 $ for an 3hrs set + limo + 5 stars hôtel

This is ridiculous ! And , of cousre .. it's Benassi , nothing to compare with Ferry, Armin ,Oakey , Digweed etc !!

Anyways, the big-name DJs/producers probably don't make their major money off of spinning at clubs anyways - that's really, when you consider the famous DJs, just a promotional thing. Perfecto. Vandit. Armada. People get charged to see a giant commercial in a club for a cover-charge, and the club is just there to collect money from overly-priced drinks. The real money for producers lies in record and CD sales, methinks - especially when you OWN the label.

Admittedley, DJs don't always jsut spin their own music (of course), but nobody is truly making the millions and millions like Rap stars and such - EDM has a more closely-knit community, it would seem, and only a select few are allowed to excel (economically).

the biggest factor is the size of the club/venue....
obviously huge events like creamfields would be more,
but the capacity of the club is DIRECTLY linked to
how much they are paid...

ex. neither tiesto nor armin got even $15000 to spin
at _______..... with capacity of about 600 (these are FACTS),
yet at the guv in TO (capacity 3500-4000)its prolly
in the 30000 range if not higher.

Thats almost criminal to be earning that much. But the idea is quite appealing.

Who the hell wants to book fatboy slim Imagine how much it would cost to book a Dj like (PvD,Tiesto,Oakenfold,John Fleming) to play at your birthday party, lol. If I was pretty rich I would pay whatever it took to get Tiesto to play.

But yeah If I was a world known dj I would play for free just because I love the music and would like to see thousands of people be able to listen to the beatiful music that is Trance.

Tiesto asks 10.000 euros for everty half hour he spins. He said it in an interview on the Dutch television. I was sitting in my chair and shaking my head. He really needs a realitycheck!

depends on the venue

i worked for a club and we could fit in about 2,000-2500 people
if i remember correctly the most expensive DJ we signed was

Digweed @ $US 27,000

PvD was around 15,000 along with Tiesto

Sasha 17,000

and Marco V, Sander K - 12,000

numbers are rounded off and best estimates

Listen to his Brighton Beach mix...

However, I usually enjoy the no-name DJs, they always play weird shit, and mix it up a little bit. When I was in New Orleans, this dude named DJ P came on before Digweed, DJ P was better IMO, he played better tracks. His stuff was similiar to Digweed, but had more of an electro-feel too it.

The scene here in pensacola blows, so you gotta see the no-name DJs

Mark Reeder has said that PvD once made £100,000 for a 3 hour set at Gatecrasher.
