Hmm yea, the main comment from people when we played my friends ISOS 2 & 3 in Chemistry AP class was: "All you have to do is listen to 5 seconds, and that is the rest of the song."

Inaccurate? Yes. Short attention span? Maybe.

However, it is not our business to be dictating what music genre is better, but we can try to gain exposure, right?

Real hip hop which includes talented acts like The Roots and Del the Funky Homosapien are great and i have much respect for them. Usher and the crap like Lil Jon is commercial hip hop that is lame as fuck. before you guys criticize hip hop as whole, don't be ignorant or you are just doing the same thing that trance bashers are.

There are lots of reasons why people dont like trance. With some, if i play them children or for an angel or saltwater which I think are nice sounding and easy to get into, they just say oh that sounds too soft and boring and its just like listening to classical music with a beat.

If I play some techno or some harder trance at them they just say its too repetative or it goes on forever and never really changes.

If I play some deep house or something at them (which I hate) they say thats ok but all the songs sound the same

If I play cheese at them to try and get them to like something electronic and work from there, they either say I thought you said you liked underground music. Or they say yeah i like that why didnt you just tell me you liked Ian Van Dahl?

Many clubs that used to feature trance and other EDM Djs now offer hip hop formats because it is cheaper.

It costs a club a lot of money to fly in DJs, pay for hotels and pay high performance fees. This cost carried over to the kids, who were paying higher cover charges at the door.

The clubs quickly realized that they could hire local, no name Djs to play hip hop for few hundred bucks a night. The clubs charged less at the door, which translated into higher numbers through the door, and more money at the bar.

Plus the kids knew the hip hop music from MTV, so there were no surprises and wider acceptance of the music.

Many clubs struggled after September 11th, the so called "cocoon effect" sent many under and others to the brink.

At the end of the day, a large part of it comes down to economics.
