I was on Tribe for a whole summer once but I found them a bit rude and cliche.
There was just no 'vibe' from Tribe at all.
They do have some elegant posts from certain people (ie.Deep) but other than that, I have to agree, it's one huge bitch session sometimes...

a good club board where ive never seen people flaming each other and actually has organized group meetings ie) reserving tables at clubs is detroitclubscene.com

Ive met a lot of them and they are very very friendly people.

That is the most ridiculous stereotype. LOTS of people on tribe go out - and there are huge roll calls and reviews for trance events. Read the review forum - there are more reviews on tribe every Monday morning than on TA.

I've made some amazing friends on that board. There are snobby people everywhere, not just on tribe.

The reason the board seems like a private circle is because a lot of people know each other offline, and those who are new don't get the inside jokes, etc. But that is the same with TOTA - only TOTA is smaller so it's less noticeable.


There are people I really can't stand on that board, but that doesn't make me call everyone on there and everyone who associates with them assholes. That would just be stupid.

I love tribe. I still can't post, but I've been reading it for years. There's a lot of bullshit posts, but I find a lot of the insults entertaining. It's just a messageboard, so really no one should take it too seriously, and if you can't take a little razzing for a stupid comment you made, then your ego is too easily bruised.

BTW, for whoever says trance is dead in TO, how many trance acts have been booked this year? How many have you been to that were empty? That's what I thought. Trance isn't dead.

I don't know all that much about Tribe.

I've been a member for only 3 or 4 months now - but everybody there seems to be perfectly polite, open and respectful.

IMO the general rule of life "treat others how you want to be treated" should be followed no matter where you are or whom you are interacting with.

As far as Trance? There does not appear to be a trance following on Tribe - no big deal - there are other sites to fulfill that niche (TA).

As far as breadth and depth of discussion? I'd say Tribe and TA are probably pretty comparable - the big difference though is the density of Tribe users from a geographic perspective. Many more members are local to each other - so it "appears" that there is significantly more dialogue happening (when really it is just more condensed).

Tribe and TA both fulfill different needs for different audiences – and excel VERY well at their own individual purposes and mandates; as a result a comparison (beyond the tactics that they use to facilitate their community) is unnecessary.

This thread was not supposed to be about whos better...I was just trying to get more of insight on Trance..."is it dead"....and i figured there is more of love on TOTA then tribe, from some of the comments from tribe made seemed too funny...

With me living in st catharines, we don't get the oppritunity that the bigger cities ~mainly TO~ get to see local talent...basically there is no scene...

I have the oppritunity of going to TO to pick and choose who i get to see or what type of music my heart desires that night...
