New Order are the godfathers of dance.

Regret, Truth Faith, Bizzare Love Triangle, Temptation, 1963, Perfect Kiss, Ceremony are some of my favorites.

True,

So does Eddie Vedder and I don't enjoy listening to his vocals. Doesn't mean it's bad (on the contrary), its just not what I enjoy.

My point was as Joy Division all aspects of their tracks were brilliant. As New Order the music continued to sparkle, the vocals/lyrics had limitations. Ian Curtis did not have a beautiful voice but he was a great singer/lyricist. As fantastic as the music of Joy Divison was it was a backdrop to the vocals. The rolls were reversed with New Order. New Order could have released all their tracks as instrumentals (or limited vocals as much of EDM is today) and that would have been fine with me.

This is not ment as an inditment of New Order rather as an observation of mine. New Order were one of vanguard bands of their day (imo).

I love New Order, but we shouldn't forget Kraftwerk and Jean Michel Jarre who have all influenced many tracks, without these 3 artists EDM would not be the same

well it comes down to personal preferences.. i personally love bernard sumner's voice.. its subtle and pleasing to the ears.. and lyrics may not be on the level of martin gore's[dm songwriter/composer], i thought they still talked about interesting stuff rather than just about 'love'.

You could say that New Order got me into trance before it even existed. 1963, Bizarre Love Triangle, Regret, Round and Round, Subcluture, True Faith, and so many more. Their Best Of album is one of my most played CD's.

God bless John Peel for putting them on the radio!
