I agree with you. Examples: Not just Prodigy but tiesto in concert which offers more. Chemical brothers, Hybrid and other live acts where they are in full control of the music and visuals.

I don't really go to see a DJ live because I want to actually stand there and look at him and what he is doing. I'm there to listen to the music, dance, chill, whatever. I could care less if the guy is just standing there mixing or if he has a whole fucking stage show going on.

meh, people should come to see musicians for music, musicians should spice up their shows by spicing up their sound. Sure they can collaborate with the club to have some dancers or some array of lights going when they play a certain tune or whatever, but the DJ isnt meant to be some sort of character for everyone to pay attention to. The point of the show is to make everybody dance and let them have a good time, not to attract a crowd to come worship a silly gimmick. This doesnt mean I want them to stand there with a stoic look on their face spinning records, they can dance around and smile and scream if they want to, but weather or not they do those things has no impact on the way we enjoy the party if we are there for the right reason, which is not to gawk at any sort of show.

We can leave gimmicks for stage concerts, clubs are for partying with friends.

All I want to say is it's pretty damn cool when Mark EG starts breaking stuff and throwing it around. Yeah, then he tries to light his records on fire. I love it!

i remember a few years ago Judge Jules at Ibiza had some guy on the Saxophone playing along to the tunes (Dumonde - Can u dig it was one of them) and that kinda jazzed the whole set up.

Not Trance, but go see Fatboy Slim if you want to see a DJ that adds something to his sets.

I saw him again on Saturday and he just has so much fun out there that it is contagious to the crowd.

Last time I saw him at the Centro Fly closing Party he came out in a coffin to Guns & Roses "Live and Let Die". He arose from the coffin and jumped on stage. Really started the show with some POP.


Mid-late 90s I saw Junior Vazquez (no flaming please) at Twilo and he had some chick in a little outfit drop down from the ceiling on a swing. But would else would you expect from Junior? (It was probably a guy in drag).

My sentiments exactly. I'm there for the music - to listen to it, and in particular to dance to it. I don't need to see a guy breakdancing or some other crazy stage show antics. It's not a concert.

But hey, some ppl do enjoy it more when there's extra stuff going on. More power to 'em.

I was just curious because when I go to clubs, it seems like the people are just there to dance, listen to the music and have a good time. The people who go to see the DJ seem satisfied enough just to see him or her spinning live. There other people that go there seem satisfied with dancing and hooking up and what not.
