no one in their right mind will let you "practice" driving standard with their car. you have the possibity of ruining the car or their shifter - which will lead to big bucks - it is bets to go to a standard driving school. they will have the patience to teach you...

unless you have a friend with a shit car anyways then it won't matter if you ruin it or not.

Yo D...buy the ride. It's as easy as this:

Stall your ass out of the lot, but follow these rules:

It's all timing. When you let out the clutch, at first give as MUCH gas as letting the clutch out, then a bit more (this timing will improve after a few miles). If you start to stall, hit the clutch and let off the gas, and repeat from the start.

When you get in gear, listen for the whhheeeAAAARRRRRMMMMM, now SHIFT! This applies with EVERY gear!

SHIFT = clutch IN, shift gears, give as much gas as you're letting off the clutch (again, this timing will improve after a few miles)

When you're turning, or "riding" through a stop sign (BAD habit!), go down to 2nd gear, throw it in neutral, and coast on the brake through the turn, then give it some gas to get out, and shift into 3rd.

NEUTRAL is your friend! Use it! It's MUCH better than riding the clutch down!

ALSO...don't ride in hilly areas until you're cool with your ride. The WORST situation you can put yourself into is being on an uphill slope at a stoplight - you have to let off the clutch to get into first, and you're probably going to roll back and hit the car behind you!

p.s. my boy did the same thing - bought a Fiat years ago and had no idea how to ride it, Got it out of the lot, and learned all day. However, you'll burn out the clutch if you're careless.

Same here... I get all flustered when I drive an automatic...

MY ADVICE: Go to a large empty parking lot, get in the car and drive.. Practise. You don't need someone to teach you, cause really there's nothing to teach. JUST DO IT
