Could this maybe be stickied? If what GT357 says is correct, then this will be important info for the forum. I know I have seen this come up on 5 or 6 unique threads (one of which I started). Its great information!

I tried bending one back from a warped state and i broke it

I tried melting one with a hairdryer and sticking it between glass and it fixed it enough to play with a heavy cartride with max weight....

there are fixes, but you will never get it flat again, you should just get a new copy (somehow)....

btw, its stuff like this that makes me wanna switch to cds....

ps... just kidding vinyl rules

this is part of the reason I added cd decks to my setup. I was tired of shit like this. I still use vinyl, but I hate how sometimes I receive them warped or whatever.

.....and I said to make this a sticky bitches.

it really does help. I think more concerns the times when the record can't be found again.

i have fixed warped vinyl, i but a whole heap of books on top of the vinyl with a flat surface facing the window. so when the sun shines in it heats up slowly to a small degree. leave it for two sunny days next to window.
best method!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

eh. never had this happen to me....

but wouldnt any form of heating wreak havok on the highs?

think about it... sun or oven heats the vinyl. the outside of the vinyl (grooves) will get warmer before the inside is hot enough that you could bend it flat and keep it flat...

(simply put)if the highs are in the vinyl as a whole bunch of very little, quick vibrations compared to the lows... wouldnt you think if you heat it up that much, that the highs might kinda "bleed" together?

iunno... just a thought.

i had a warped plastic boy - live another life, and my mum had a flatpack kitchen which was really heavy, so i put it under there for about a month, and that huge 'hill' in my record is now a slight bump
basically just stick it under something flat and v heavy
