I know little to nothing about the Trance scene. I have checked out Iskurs GUide to Electronic Music and have listened to a bunch of stuff but honestly I couldn't tell House from Trance to DnB to save my life.

I'm really interested in the evolution of music and I'm curious as to how EDM came from Kraftwerk or wherever it came from.

Do people here like IDM?

I think trance and DnB are just different means to the same end. House on the other hand seems to be more care free and just about making people dance instead of the layers of mind warping repitition that we come to this site looking for

The main reason of doing some futurepop is that I once made some songs with a friend of mine who sings. We merely did happy dance (compare it to vengaboys style) but now... years later, we had a reunion!

Check out artists like Hypnoskull, synapscape, The synthetic dream Foundation, Nimheil, Venetian Snares, and Merzbow. The industrial scene is a goldmine for finding new approaches to make music.

Also have you ever heard of Circuit Bending? It's a crazy way to make music. Reed Ghazala has a shitload of stuff about it on his site www.anti-theory.com, it's techno(or trance, ever time I say techno to someone who listens to trance they freak) friendlyl

Do any trance artists use stuff like Nanoloops or LSDj's? That would be interesting.

Some vocals of Synthpop/Futurepop/or what so ever... remind me of Depeche Mode's songs.

But seriously, i don't know if i can trust Ishkur's guide, as he put all the trance songs that i actually know (2000's) into the same genre saying that is shit and so one...

For me, he had a bias in doing that guide : for example i don't know if you have heard the excerpts, but it sounds me like he intentionally made loops with the trance tracks' breackdowns to show that "Not Trance" could be representative of tracks with extremely lasting breaks...

And when he says : "Trance is dead. Ferry Corsten killed it."
