give me a fucking break. I'm so sick and tired of a select group of americans saying canada owes its soverignty to america. Lets look at countries that actually have a navy with capacity to mobilize enough troops to make it over here to get their asses kicked.
I won't even get into the real logistics of war. The amount of troops and supplies that would be needed to secure a land mass the size of canada. The pure diversity of equipment needed to fight war across tundra, mountains, rainforest, desert, cities and oceans would be insane.

Russians
The Brits are our oldest allay so you could take them off the list. If you want to keep them on the list, they didn't have the easiest time with the whole falklands mess. That was an island disconnected from argentina so a blockade was all they really needed to have sucess. Taking the fight to argentia would have had much different results i'm quite sure.
The French have a navy, they have carriers, they don't have the army or logistics backing to take war across the atlantic ocean and do anything but get their asses hammered back.
The Russians have lots of boats, subs, etc. 95% of them are mothballed and the other 5% probably would run out of gas before they made it past iceland. 30 years ago the russians could of crushed us into the ground. Today a much different story.
So that just leaves america then. So it's fair to say that they're the only real threat to our soverignty then? Surely that's as correct as saying we owe them for our soverignty?
