At least I think Airwave and M.i.k.e. produce yours own tunes alone... and when they produces in a team they uses a proper alias,
except Yves DeRuyter that told us that he produced all his tunes with other person.

I think it's cool when a DJ is open about the fact they use a producer e.g mauro picotto is always raving about ricardo ferri in interviews, and also Timo Maas and his amazing producer (forgotten his name). It shows that the DJ is confident enough to share their success with the people who helped them.

yeah, that's complete true, tracks released under my name 'timeok' are always done together with andy prinz. but i don't say i've produced them on my own. so i stay to the work with andy and also have featured him as 'my producer' on my homepage. if we do a track, i take a week off from work and sit in the studio every time we work on the track. and so i can also take part in changing things i don't like or want to have done in another way than andy.
at the moment i'm doing my first steps in cubase on my own and if i have a good thing, i'll move to andy's studio and then have the idea finished in a new track that's my way of producing...

btw. the things mentioned on the labels... this depends all on the money. i mean, you sure can go to a big name producer and then buy 'your' track. and if you pay enough, it sure is written on the record: 'written and produced by YOU'!

but there are also a lot of great producers and dj's around who do all on their own. best example: l-vee aka airwave.

with regards to tiesto, he has always collaborated on his work. his earlier stuff was primarily WRITTEN & produced by him, with his more later stuff being other people on the production work. this stuff happens all the time, and at the end of the day its in his name because of a number of reasons. 1) the track will sell a shit load more if it has the name DJ Tiesto on it, 2) the people may want to remain nameless, yet still earn the money. just because tiesto's name is on it doesn't mean he gets all the money for it by any stretch of the imagination. 3) he will have probably written the track's melody or vocals or even done some of the structure etc etc and left the production to others.

remember, all a producer does is put together the parts of the track to make the end product. just because it is produced by someone doesn't always mean they wrote it, and vice versa.
