I think it was because Tulips and Chocolate sounded so much like adagio for strings it caused producers to rethink the way trance is made, and from that moment every piece of trance sounded like adagio for strings
and Ligaya was the 3rd Gouryella production but the 1st gouryella made by just ferry, therefore making it the first solo gouryella track - a definite milestone

What single song had the greatest influence on Trance?
All you light weights with the musical depth of a thimble run to say "New Order - Blue Monday" because you've been told its some grand precursor to Trance released in 1983. In reality its just a standard song written to showcase a chorus.
It wasn't until New Order's release of Perfect Kiss in 1985 that the first trance song ever was released.
At 3:59 minutes into it the vocals end (which do not have a chorus section FYI) and the music takes over for a ride that sits comfortably right between Epic and Progressive.
New Order's influence was peaking at this time. Blue Monday was just the set up to give them the attention they deserved. And all over the world the new musical archetype that Perfect Kiss had created sunk into people's minds.
Oh and Bernard Sumner even plays a Cow Bell during it
The first Epic crest by the way occurs at 6:11 into the song.
Everything trance ever was... everything trance will ever be is all in this song.

Don't be daft. New Order are nowhere near trance. Blue Monday is much hyped because it is a significant step in the evolution of house, and because it sold a shedful of copies.. Another thing- Blue Monday was nothing about the chorus, it was an exercise in the drum-machine, written by the band so they had a simple encore for live performances.

Whats the point in that. If your gonna say people dont know what there talkin about at least say why.
It's pretty self evident. People are just listing their favourite tracks, as they always do. Every time there's one of these threads it happens and someone who actually knows has to correct them, and I'm fed up of bearing witness to it.
And I'm not a hypocrite, I admit I'm debasing people's posts here.

I suppose important trance creations is referring to songs that helped spawn a bunch of copycats, effectively steering some forms of trance down certain roads. Here's a gander at a few of the more famous ones:
The Age Of Love - The Age Of Love (Jam & Spoon etc. etc. Remix)
Quite memorable for its use of voice pads, a staple in many trance tunes ever since.
Art Of Trance - Madagascar (Ferry Corsten Remix)
While long breakdown/builds weren't exactly a new thing in trance (heck, Jam & Spoon's Follow Me has such a long breakdown, it had to be made tongue-in-cheek), this one seemed to create the template for the bigger, fuller builds that would become a trance staple.
Robert Miles - Children (Dream Version)
Trance hits the mainstream! Producers looking to cash in quickly followed this style.
Delerium - Silence (Tiesto's etc. etc. Remix)
Vocal trance was somewhat around before, but I swear nearly every vocal trance tune attempted to emmulate this blueprint.

You are making arguments against things that I haven't said.
I have not claimed that New Order is near trance. What I have done is singled out a single tune in a discography that covers 100 songs as having all the key elements that make up trance years before the genre existed.
If you were familiar with Perfect Kiss, then you could easily identify all the elements of Trance in it. The buildup is easy to recognize, it starts at 5:42, at 6:00 the high synth kicks in and goes into a standard epic straight line intensity increase untill it peaks at 6:11 exploding with the plateau melody that continues until the end of the song.

Tiesto´s In Search of Sunrise Remix !!!
You´re right ....
and maybe
Tiesto - Lethal Industry ?
showed the world how minimal trance can be .....
Motorcycle - As the rush comes ?
a big step for trance heading to progressive ???

You said that Perfect Kiss was "the first trance song ever". And, if you actually look into it, a breakdown introducing a melody isn't a requirement of trance at all.
