Sony's and Toshiba's are pretty good machines, I sell those at work a lot. I hear good and bad stuff about all the brands. Most the time when something goes wrong with the computer, its the user, not the computer itself lol. Just go with something with like a Centrino, because its a laptop, and you want battery life. If you want tons of power, I mean, thats what desktops are for. Mac's are cool, and so are all IBM based ones.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned eMachines. I've had mine since late January and it's been working great for me. It used to be a shitty brand but now they're pretty nice. Also, I think they're one of only a small number of companies that sell laptops with 64-bit processors. Maybe things have changed since I bought mine, I dunno. Anyways, they're a good buy I think, check them out.

I'd go with a Dell notebook or computer. They are resonably priced, and are reliable. Plus if you buy the warrenty with the electronic, if you break it, they come to your house and fix it.

The best thing to do if you want a desktop is to build your own. Therefore, it's easier to upgrade, and cheeper to make (if you buy your parts from a computer show, or catalog).

expensive as hell but when it comes down to it the only desktop computer i'd ever buy vs. building my own. i believe they really only make desktop replacement laptops and not so much portable ones.

And while one day viciously throwing down on his box Jack boldly declared "Let there be house!" And house music was born. I am the creator and this is my house and in my house there is only house music. But I am not so selfish because once you enter my house it then becomes our house and our house music and you see no one man owns house because house music is a universal language spoke and understood by all. You see, house is a feeling that no one can understand really unless you're deep into the vibe of house. House is an uncontrollable desire to jack your body and as I told you before this is our house and our house music. In every house you understand, there is a keeper and in this house the keeper is Jack.
