The ATkins ENDULGE line is AMAZING what are you saying?? The one that is like turtles is better than Turtles IMO. Your still getting the same ammount of fat in the products WHICH IS WHAT TASTES GOOD! They just remove the SUGAR WHICH AFFECTS YOUR INSULIN LEVELS and replace it with SPLENDA! which tastes a lot more like sugar than Aspartane "Because it's made from Sugar"

"eat healthy"...problem is that most people don't know what that really means. Some people have a bagel + low-fat cream cheese and juice for breakfast...or a salad with low-fat dressing for lunch...and thinks they're eating well. no protein + no fat = poor diet.

Exactly. Listen to MarkT.

One will notice that there are no dietary diseases based on a "lack of carbohydrates", however there ARE dietary diseases based on lack of fats and proteins.

One will also notice that there are no "essential carbohydrates". There are essential fats and essential amino acids (protein) - but no essential carbohydrates.

I do not discount the affect that diet has on your health...But I did adopt my own 'Low Carb' lifestyle about a year ago....And lost 60 lbs.

I say my 'own' diet because I did a lot of research on the ideas behind the low carb craze and found that a lot of them had merit in medical circles. A over-abundance of carbs for a long period of time will change how your body processes these. I did not subscribe totally to the Adkins or South Beach or any other diet, but created my own based on some of the principles...

Now, over the holidays I ate what I wanted...and I do have occational lapses where I indulge in pizza, chocolate and some other foods that do not fit into the guidelines that I follow....But the thing is to limit those to a weekend, or a night, and then go back to the lifestyle that you were on...

As I said, doing this I lost 60lbs and have kept it off for over 6mos...I have a TON more energy (now I just need to quit smoking) and feel GREAT!

-No White Flour....
-No Sugar, period...I use Splenda wherever possible keeping away from Aspratame
-Lots of leafy, green veggies....Spinach, Broccoli....high in fiber and nutrients
-For snacks, I eat a lot of nuts, Macadamias are my favorite
-Lots of water
-Eat at least 2 times a day...full meals....and snack throughout the day...I used to starve myself and then pig out in the evenings
-Excercise....Dance, Dance, DANCE!!!!
-I eat a lot of poultry (chicken, turkey) and NOT all red meat

I do eat Low-Carb breads and tortillas....they usually are made with whole grain wheat flour and have lots of fiber...

Initially I had 'cravings' for sugar, candy and everything....but those went away and the weight slowly came off....

So before you go slagging the Low Carb folks...just remember that some of us are not so militant...

That's basically the same approach the Wifey and I have been taking the last couple of years.
She did do the Atkins thing once just to see and while it did work, it's regiment, I agree, is militant. At least the induction phase is.
I just need to get me ass to the gym more.
I do intend to dance my ass off @ System on Fri though ...

OMG...that's exactly the same thing I did...and I lost about the same. Only gained a few over the holidays....now I started going back to oxygenated water, brown rice and wraps....I already feel better when I wake up in the morning.
But ever once and a while I lapse too...I can't help it...when I see ppl eating steak and potatoes or some fantastic dessert....it's just soooo hard.

For all you thin ppl who stuff their bodies and don't gain a pound.....I want you to remember us when your suffering that heartburn, Indigestion or diarrhea

Hear, hear!

I'm proud to say I've made it to the gym for a half-hour on the elliptical every day after work, and it makes such a HUGE difference. I've been slacking for months, and now I'm feeling more energetic, and cardio does wonders for cellulite. That and green tea. I'm not going to do any weight training until I want to tone my last few problem areas. It really makes you want to eat better, too, going to the gym!

Dallas, see you there on Friday and Saturday!

Gym is great and yes it does work wonders, and yeah of course it does wonders for cellulite ...At my gym I can get free personal training guidance once in a while where my trainer would literally "engineer" a workout for me and that guy's amazing...see if you can get that too it's totally worth it My goal isn't to get BUFF at all and he knows exactly what to do.

By the way for every pound of muscle that you develop/gain - the body burns something like 300 extra calories per day think about that!
