yeah... Techno is another name/or nickname for Dance music....basically, when they say Dance music they mean Commercial Dance music, when they say Techno, they mean underground Dance music...

Probably the same reason I call all forms of music where a someone has a guitar and someone plays the drums 'rock music', when in fact there is probably hundreds of sub genres and I would have no idea how to classify something I heard.

So to me, its all rock music.

Doesnt happen here... More like them associating techno to whatever songs that has the 4/4 beat(kick) structure with other dancey elements.
