There's that late-night place on the corner of Logan and Danforth that uses real chunks of meat too, but I find their gyros to be VERY GREASYYYYYY!!!!!!! And all the other places used that combo- meat slice stuff that isn't visually appealing. I will try this place next time.

No. Cyprus is independent as Jay said (as of 1960) however the populous does speak Greek and have a heritage that is from ancient Greece. Muslims for Turkey did try in 1974 to occupy it because of a coup involving Greece (trying to unify the island with mainland Greece even after its independence). The island remains split to this day. The ONLY government that recognizes the Northern FORCIBLY occupied half is Turkey. (This did cause problems for Cyprus being accepted into the EU) and that is why the southern half has "eased" tensions by letting those in the south back up into the north to "visit". I wanted to go while I was there to see my parents'/grandparents' houses (which are apparently not that well taken care of ) but couldn't find the time.

Hell I'll eat the thing regardless just to see how it tastes. I'm not saying I won't eat it because it is NOT authentic. I'm just saying it's unauthentic when done that way. It makes no sense.

The only reason it's not Greek makes it Greek? Please explain that to me. Technically it's not Greek. It is independent. (from a political standpoint, from what I know anyway). If it were Greek we would have a Greek flag. Its background and heritage and language ARE Greek however.

So yes, chips in your gyro is authentic modern greek gyros.

Just because they put it in the sandwich does not make it authentic. If I go to Japan and eat Sushi and they put ketchup on it at every restaurant I go to (because it's popular) does that make it authentic? I think not.
