cant say ive heard much tool or APC...

from what ive heard, yes, musically satisfying. what convinces me of their greatness is my roommates love for the shit. unf ive moved away from rock as a primary source of quality music|

Yes, very much so.

Excellent, excellent music - they show a lot of thought and definite skill in what they do. Maynard is a lyrical and vocal genius, hands-down. I'd heard from a friend that he writes his music using mathematical formulas? Probably just a dumbass rumour, but I don't doubt it, as his work demonstrates a very advanced degree of skill and understanding.

Plus, the guitar work in "Schism" owns me.

Anyone read the inside pamphlet to the "Aenima" CD?

Truly, mind-expanding work. Sort of the rock-equivalent to Aphex Twin.

edit: I don't really make all those faces when I write, I just do it for emphasis.

Im fortunate to have seen both live.

Tool live is an experience. Their musicianship is fantastic. Much emphasis is put on the visuals. I believe their guitarist has a special effects background. The visuals creeped my girlfriend out so much she had to leave her seat.

APC live didn't do much for me. Actually I was quite dissapointed. They didn't hold a candle to NIN who were the headliner. I imagine they have gotten better.

I feel sorry for the members of APC. They have this terrific/sucessful band going and they have to hiatus while Maynard does the Tool thing.

Very much looking forward to the a new Tool album. This is the first Ive heard of it.

Tool has one of the best song writers and one of the best drumers.

don't get me wrong, i am a Tool fan but in my book APC has been able to produce so much more quality tunes.
seen tool live once, more of a show feel to it.
APC twice, headlining. a couple of props on stage, but i honestly could care less. maynard's silloute through the early part of the show. the music, its the music that i care for.

the first time i heard 3 libras, i was driving and switched to the local rock station and i heard just the last 40 something seconds of the song.
I was like "who the feck, what the feck, what in the name of feck, who the feck was that!!!!" yes it was love at first listen.

my taste is rather weird i guess. like, i never really care for Metallica. just didn't see what all the fuss is about.
well whatever.

Tool live is the best 2 concert i've ever been to. The first time I saw them I didn't know any albums besides Lateralus, but still was completely speechless after the show; its like a spiritual experience definitely.

btw. Lateralus is another TA that likes tool
