However sasha is not a showman, he's a DJ and he still has a huge following. Im not saying that you shouldnt be able to see the dj. What i am saying is that seeing the dj makes up about 5% of the total experience and i dont care if hes just standing there and playing a good set or doing magic tricks to make up for the fact that he sucks a la tiesto.

i only used sasha as a weak example...i don't even really like sasha's style lol. i think with most of your comments jayx, you should humbley use the phrase IMO = in my opinion. becasue when you don't, it sounds like you're trying to impose your views onto everyone else.

for many ppl, seeing the dj is a huge part of the experience and watching how they interact with the crowd. anyone can simpley play a cd(or set) from someone, if that was satisfying enough, why would ppl spend money to see them dj? of course it ties into the want of hearing music on a loud sound system with lots of ppl. but don't undermine the djs pressence as not being an important aspect of the whole experience. (after all, why else would everyone face the dj when they're on?)

a cd wouldnt be satisfying because the DJ should play for the crowd at the moment. If it looks like the crowd is digging a particular style at the moment and not another then the Dj will play that style more. The reason we have DJs is because they customize to the crowd (or should).

Again im not saying its not important to see the DJ. It is. But what I am saying is that i dont care what the dj looks like, how he acts, etc etc as long as im getting a good set. If the dj can jump through flaming hoops and it doesnt take away from his musical performance then go for it. Although what i am saying is this is rarely possible since good djs put all their concetration into the musical aspect of their set and reading the crowd. IMO (hehe) the DJs who resort to theatrics are trying to hide the fact that they cant really spin well.

Lets face it. AVB, Corsten, Tiesto ETC arent very good technical DJs even if they do produce a good tune.

Really? i agree about tiesto...but i've found avb's and corsten's sets to be solid (i'd say at least 80% from my listening of their sets)

i agree they're not always perfect, but i think they can do a nice technical clean mix most of the time, and avb reads the crowd very well...i think sometimes ferry will get cocky and just do his own thing, but most of the time i find them solid.

anyways...the whole point from my comment is this: i don't think the dj should be putting on a circus act or jumping through hoops. the main thing i want from an international dj is to see 'Enthusiasm.' i think thats a very important aspect, becuase the crowd came just to see whoever the particular dj is, and most ppl don't want to see him standing there with a blank expression. the crowd wants the dj to feed off their excitment, and when they like something, for the dj to see that and keep it up, and vice versa, and show that in there expression.

He's the majority of the records and cds I really wanna get!

He did the "A Trip In Trance 2" CD compilation mixes and they are absolutely stellar!!!

IF you can book him... you can automatically add me +3 to the guestlist!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

His mixes from the radio shows I've heard are incredible... lots of techy-uplifting trance from what I heard.

I agree somewhat about Tiesto, but Armin and Ferry are both excellent DJs, in my opinion. They've got skills. Not nunchuck skills though.
