fair enough
| quote: | | for many ppl, seeing the dj is a huge part of the experience and watching how they interact with the crowd. anyone can simpley play a cd(or set) from someone, if that was satisfying enough, why would ppl spend money to see them dj? of course it ties into the want of hearing music on a loud sound system with lots of ppl. but don't undermine the djs pressence as not being an important aspect of the whole experience. (after all, why else would everyone face the dj when they're on?) |
a cd wouldnt be satisfying because the DJ should play for the crowd at the moment. If it looks like the crowd is digging a particular style at the moment and not another then the Dj will play that style more. The reason we have DJs is because they customize to the crowd (or should).
Again im not saying its not important to see the DJ. It is. But what I am saying is that i dont care what the dj looks like, how he acts, etc etc as long as im getting a good set. If the dj can jump through flaming hoops and it doesnt take away from his musical performance then go for it. Although what i am saying is this is rarely possible since good djs put all their concetration into the musical aspect of their set and reading the crowd. IMO (hehe) the DJs who resort to theatrics are trying to hide the fact that they cant really spin well.
Lets face it. AVB, Corsten, Tiesto ETC arent very good technical DJs even if they do produce a good tune.
