I listen to a track ive never heard before, and i can always pick out right when a new element is coming in, you can just feel it. the 4:4 measure is starting to bore me. any ideas as to new and interesting forms of electronic, perhaps in a 3:3 or some weird ass 7:3 combination? |
7/3? for dance music?! i cant see that happening lol. maybe 6/8, but not 3/3, that would be totally ridiculous, and there is no way it would still be club music.it would be more like folk music and people would be inclined to do barn dance steps to it! i cant work out how someone would rave to a track which is written in anything but 4/4.
anyway you can have variation without changing the time signiture, you can program some really wierd drums without changing the entire time signiture, its one of the things that is the basis to pretty much all EDM, in fact i challenge someone to come up with a track that is considered as EDM which isnt 4/4 (and when i say 4/4 i mean 4 crotchets to a bar) and triplets dont count, because they are still within a 4/4 bar, just each beat is divided into three triplets.
One thing i do like is when you get odd phrases like 7 bar or 9 bar phrases instead of your normal 8 bar ones. sometimes you get 6 bar ones which almost sound like there is no defined begining or end, it just flows as a circle and the riff seems indefinate, i love that.
