Yes, overall it makes sense out of sensibility from a person's frame of reference. Be here in the now rather then in the past or some cryptic-prescribed doomsday for a future! :P
I've had my share of meeting people with very unorthodox thinking so I have a good grasp of where people like RavingLunatic are come from.
| quote: | As much as the "rebel cause" makes me laugh, i'm going to have to side with trancaholic and the biz (werd up!) on this one....
I think those who complain about capitalism are unhappy with their current position in society right now and need an outlet. Fortunatley for RavingLunatic, he found this "shroomism" or whatever... I have worked in a position that Renegade spoke of... and you know what? It's not THAT bad... just look at it this way: It may be unfair that the bosses have it easy, and you bust your ass... but don't forget, (like trancaholic said), your bosses started out JUST as you did.... |
I believe his (Renegade's) complaint was the general treatment of the lower level food chain people in the company. It is quite relevant to any capitalistic socio-economic society. It has to do more with just the bosses, it's the company's policies.
| quote: | In other words, if you bust your ass, and continue to work hard, you can be where they are one day. THEN you can relax and make the big bucks. Anybody can be successful. With the right amount of education, hard work, and determination, ANYONE can become a "CEO". To those who say life isn't fair: I say BULLSHIT! Some may get dealt better things in life by birth, but anyone can be whoever they want to be in this society: Every person has access to all necesities, and everyone has the ability/option to do whatever they want with their lives.
You may be unhappy with Capitalism, but i think you are unhappy with yourselves. [/quote
Quite so. It makes pragmatic sense.. IF a company is not aligned ethically and morally with me, goodbye.
[quote]And to agree with TranceGiant, we are all but bricks in a huge wall. One brick is not going to change everything. And did it not occur to you that the reason we have this wall in the first place is because of how good of a system it is? Why do you think the strongest countries in the world are capitalist? As much as you may not like it, its the best system out there. |
Every good system has a price. That price is human failing for avarice and power: survival of the fittest at any costs. On one hand, such systems promote opportunities, success, and wealth. On the other hand, it promotes environmental negligence, corruption, deception, and even costing human lives.
...Time to make a new wall.. All it takes is one brick to fall out.. Brick by brick. Certainly, it may not create any substantial new system out of (doesn't have to be) capitalism - but more for causing some havoc -- to change the way it thinks and behaves.
| quote: | | I like your dreams though, although they may be of grandeur. You cannot be blamed, RavingLunatic, for wanting that. I just blame you for blaming Capitalism. I am experiencing right now what you are dreaming for.... and i am experiencing it in a Capitalist economy! I work, yet am not bored. I buy things i want, yet am not broke. And i do what i want! 100% happy in life i am. |
True, it's what you do about it instead of just pointing fingers. I agree with you that effort is needed to 'coexist'.
| quote: | You will find that on your quest to "right" the world, your biggest opponents will be those who are already happy in life!
And as far as the "world-ending" stuff, i just think people need an excuse, something to take their mind off things.... These people were so fucking vocal about everything come the end of 1999..... but you don't hear shit out of them now, do you? But as soon as something else "comes up", you're going to hear these people again..... Well, the world's been around for billions of years, and its not going anywhere for another "billions of years".... lol.
Cheers for now.

The biggest opponents are your most loyal converted fans, followers, and practitioners.
As for the doomsday, I highly doubt that too. Humanity has some growing up to do and unfinished businesses to tend to. It would bite the big one if I didn't get a chance to fulfill my purpose if earth, all of a sudden, drops out of the solar system!
I could only hope for positive change, transpersonally, spiritually, and metaphysically..
...I await for Nibiru to come.
