I seem to get much better precision at mixing when I use single-ear monitoring. When I mix in headphones, it later sounds like shit.

If you don't understand, forget it. There's not point in me explaining.

It has nothing to do with the topic. He's bickering with another guy about which head phones are better- pay no attention =]
moving on...
I start my beat matching with one ear in the cans and one ear listening to the live track playing out loud via the speakers. Then when they are matched I start the incoming track over at the mark I want and start to que that bad boy in, EQ it to my liking, start very subtly fading it in- a little bit per measure- switch the lows\bass drum at just the right moment and before you know it Ive got a seamless transition w00t!
To que the incoming and listen to the live track both through the phones seems very difficult unless you know your records very very well, which you should before spinning out.

hehe, sadly, thats purely correct.

if you really wanna know about the correlation does not equal causation thingie I can explain. but it has nothing to do with djing, or beat matching, it pure science, science I think everyone should understand. .

No worries M8, I'm just a sarcastic bastard who's got an interest in Logic...

Plus man, how often do you get an argument thrown back at you that was as well thought out as Boomer's!

Cheers,

Hi, i've been trying the one ear in headphones and other listening to the live music. I have got the hang of it a little bit, and it is actually quite easier. This is strange but i do that way for big differences in tracks, then when it gets down to really small differences i just stick the headphones on.
