2 x Vestax PDX23000 Pro MkII Decks
2 x Denon DNS5000 CD Players
1 x Vestax PMC CX Mixer
the CX mixer is friggin awesome, not too pretty to look at, but such a joy to use!!!
As for the rest of it, the decks are ok but the J arm is wank
And the cd players, well i wouldve preferred CDJs, more for simplicity and theres less buttons to tempt me into trying shit i dont really know how to do

im 21 mate, the competetion is for Uni students. It is a pretty cool competition, although its definately aimed more towards hip-hop, dnb etc.
As for the women, it only really seems to impress the missus, which is plenty enough for me

So the competition was last night, I thought Id let you guys know how it went.
The standard was really good, although alot of the DJs played very similar styles, hiphop/dnb/garage/breaks kinda stuff. I wasnt on til second from last so had to wait 3 and half hours to go on which was a bit of a pain!
My set didnt quite go as Id planned, couple of things went wrong early on which kinda threw me and the nerves came on pretty bad. Nothing that the audience could really hear, just things that id had planned i couldnt do thru missing cue points etc. Im a bit pissed off with myself for letting it happen as if it had all gone to plan i probably wouldve been i with a shot of winning.
In the end I didnt place in the top 3, but i was fucking cool playing on the Ministry sound system, and there mustve been about 6-700 people there which is probably the most ive ever played to.
Cheers for all the tips and advice from you guys, muchos appreciated especially Freak, thanks alot dude.

no probs
shame it didnt go according to plan - sounded good the mock up you sent me.
Anyway- on your djing cv you now have right at the top- 'Played at Ministry of sound'
One system i would kill to play on personally, as it is one of the best in the world.
Did you record your actual live performance??

I should receive a video of my set, they recorded everything and make a promo DVD out of it. What the sound quality will be like on that i have no idea tho.

u shoulda placed in the top3 at least dave. that's my honest opinion...first is hard to say cuz judging cross-genre is difficult, but ur set even with the little fuckups was a damn good 15 minute set.
hehe it's jon btw. twas a good nite anyway, and i'm sure the experience u gained will do u well.
