I'm sure they both sound very nice.

I'm more interested in a head to head comparison of features, ease of use, etc. Which one you think you'd prefer if you could only have one.

The Rane is much more fun to mix on thus far. But I have only spent a couple hours on the xone. I'll let you know in a month.

Other than that the mixer is great. I'm assuming the A&H is too but I have never used it. If you want to download an example of how nice the Rane 2016 can sound, check out this WAV:

21MBs
http://www.nitroevents.com/mp3/dido.wav

I copied this last night. The signal path is Clearaudio Emotion Turntable > Shure V15VxMR > 1 foot Mogami RCA > Rane 2016 MP > 3 foot Mogami XLR > M-Audio Firewire 410 > Bias Peak 4. The final audio I recorded was not retouched in any way.

Thanks,
Keith

Sorry about the off topicness but what song/mix is that?

Dido- sand in my shoes (above and beyond mix)
Came out ages ago

Both mixers have their charms, pros and cons.
having used both- they are both fantastic and top of the line.
Without the XP, i would say dont buy the rane. But with it, id probably choose it to be honest over the 92, although i will state in dont think its a fair comparison.
They are both top notch mixers you would expect to find on AAA list djs riders, and indeed you WILL find in most of the top clubs in the world.

Ive rapidly fallen in love with rotaries!

me?
Id get the rane with the xp module ( the 2016a has split cue which may be useful) or the vestax CX (carl cox) with the rotary option, or the AllenHeath V6 with seperate eq, as it seems to me you are going for out and out sound and build quality- something of a purist mixer.

try before you buy- you will love them or hate them

I'm having a hard time understanding the appeal of this mixer. It looks nice and sounds great but it just isn't fun to mix on.

-I'm not diggin the 4 band EQ at all. I much prefer having a single knob for mid.

-High and low are full cut for the mids aren't. (-30db) So the curve is different when you drop them.

-The faders have 50% of the volume between 8 and 10 and are just too loose. It is way too easy to bring a track out or in too quick while in the mix.

-The VCF filters are kinda OK but I can't really see using them when playing out. It's easy to make the mix sounds annoying with them.

-The design is way too cramped. Everything is so close together.

Again the sound is awesome and it is a quality mixer. Just a lot of the design choices didn't fit my preferences. I’m getting a second 2016 and the 92 is going on eBay. I’ll post the link incase anybody want to buy it.

Thanks,
Keith

Are you getting this for home? If so, the ranes are not necessary and truley the Xone isn't. You will hear absolutly NO difference in sound unless you have a good sound system. If you play in clubs, buy one and a flightcase, bring it there.

The knobs are rubber coated correct? Feels a lot more comfortable.
