ecstacy isn't a depressant? i would think it would be more of one than weed considering how much highter E can bring you.

Stranger things have happened in EU courts, trust me.

I'll point you to another gem of post-GM paranoia in that article:

Alright, back to the regular bump of Red Bull.
Been there, done that, there's already a product out there less advertised that will jolt you back to your senses with an extremely high caffeine bump...

HIgh caffeine mixed with alcohol is not a good deal in general...

The smoking industy is significantly different from the food industry, because it functions off an active drug that is highly addictive, nicotine.

If I could choose a location for a single hydrogen bomb, it would be Phillip Morris headquarters. There's decades of evidence that smoking is one of the deadliest things you can do legally. There isn't for caffeine, aside from instances where people have been injected with pure amounts equalling hundreds of cups of coffee at once.

Stimulants hop you up. Depressants mellow you out. These are two different categories of drugs, among others (hallucinogens, etc). There isn't some universal "high" to drug use.

Alcohol is a depressant. Caffeine is a stimulant. They don't have the same effects.

the whole basis of his comment was that it increases your heart rate for a long period of time and i mentioned that most drugs do it as well, not saying that red bull is a drug, although it just happens to share some similar effects of drugs.

alcohol is a depressant but it doesn't really mellow everyone out. a lot of people i know become agressive after drinking and also hand to move around a lot more and whatnot, hence why i feel i can relate depressants and stimulants.

ecstasy is an upper. basically any amphetamine is an upper. MDMA is one. meth is another.
drugs don't all have the same effect, you know. and they're categorised by their effects.
so, no, ecstasy is not a depressant. as Cobalt said, alcohol and weed are.

[edit:] excuse me: their physiological effects.

"Mellow out" wasn't the best word choice on my part. I meant something more physiological. Alcohol slows down your nervous system, whereas stimulants accelerate it. Anecdotal evidence that some people "move around more" when they are drunk may lead you to believe it "stimulates" something, but on a biological level there are reduced motor skills due to your impaired (depressed) nervous system. I doubt said person who moves around more when drunk is more alert when driving a car.

Stimulants cause your nervous system to be hyperactive, firing more than normal, and reacting more than normal to stimuli. When you're combating sleep, this can increase your alertness and response. But at the other end of the spectrum, too powerful of stimulants (meaning most things stronger than caffeine) will cause involuntary motions and jitters which interfere with concious control.
