in my original post i suggested one thing based on experience, so here's the story behind that
about a year and a half ago, mbbe a bit less even, got together with a girl i'd known since about 3 years before but never really talked to or anything (liked her 3 years ago but right then some other guy asked her out and they were together until last spring)
so i asked her out in december i think, everything was great, things were still good and all, and then in april (day after my birthday i might add, and probably only then cause i was out of town on my birthday :mad she dumped me rather abruptly. and she was definately really upset about it, we went for a drive cause 'we needed to talk', and she was absolutely bawling and couldn't even really drive when i dropped her off at her car. so a few weeks went by with me trying my best to distance myself from her and not talk to or think about her cause i knew it wasn't good for me
given about a month we started talking, talking turned to hanging out, and before school was even out we were more or less back together.
we ran to each other first when we had problems, spent time together doing various things in a good amount of both of our free time, and of course started sleeping together more than before.
and it woulda been fine in the long run, but that continued from may until late august when we both went off to college
well she went to college out of state. i'm stuck in the same damn town at UMass
so at the end of the summer i had prepared myself to break things off for good, tough as it would be, and so one night we went to dinner and it was kinda awkward and we got back to where she was parked and i was taking a second for a deep breath and summoning up the courage to say what i wanted to and she just said 'eh i'm sure i'll see you again sometime before i leave' and i just said bye and sat there
i didn't see her again before she left for college, i never got the resolution i wanted
so all fall and all winter it bugged me
hell i never even knew why we broke up
speaking of that i finally got the guts to ask cause i don't even feel like i'm ready for anyone else until i resolve everything and the answer i got was that she didn't feel for me like she did when we got together, and that she didn't want to lead me on
...so if she didn't want to lead me on, why did she do exactly that all summer and never hint she was thinking otherwise...
so the moral of the story: on multiple occasions i've had the opportunity to break things off and never pulled through. and almost a year later, its still eating away at me. she still wants to hang out when we're in town too, and once in a while i'll do it but its not the same. so yeah, i hope you won't make the same mistake i did. for his sake, don't try to be just friends, let it go

Re: Relationship Question

OK here is the scenario:
Guy and Girl are together for three years.
They loved each other, things were awesome, until the last year where everything went to shit.
They break up, lots of pain and tears.
The Guy and Girl stop talking, Girl tries to cut Guy out of her life.
Several months after break up, Guy calls Girl pleading to at least still be friends.
Girl somewhat complies by agreeing to at least talk and be civil.
Nearly a year after break up, Guy calls Girl and says he wants to hang out like regular friends.
Girl is unsure if this is a good idea.
Girl does not have romantic feelings for Guy. Girl knows that she will never get back with Guy, EVER. Girl does not fully trust Guy, even in simple and seemingly innocent situations. Girl is unsure of Guys intentions; if there are any? Girl would like to be friends with Guy because she still cares about him as a person. Guy says he misses being around Girl. Guy says he knows that Guy and Girl will not get back together.
If any more info is needed, you may ask
Basically the question is, what should Girl do? Should she try and be friends, hang out with him and see how it goes? Or is it doomed to end in disaster? Should Girl cut Guy out of her life permanently? Thanks for the thoughts! |
