In my opinion , if quebec gets the separation , everybody will be happy , the rest of canada won't be bothered to learn speaking french and quebec will decide for it's own ...

but then , what about montreal ? i don't think Montreal is a 100% quebecker city ...

Fastdjmp3 your right about Montréal. That is what is good about it, its diverse cultures. I don't really know what would happen to it, but i know for sure the government would not make it all french. It's impossible, with that many cultures?, think about it, they'd be crazy facists and everyone would shoot them. I think the city would pretty much stay the same and the only thing that would change would be certain laws to better control our economy.

First of all, all immigrants must sent their kids to FRENCH school. They don't have the choice to send them to ENGLISH school.

Second of all, if you go to china town, its still LAW that the french must be twice the size of the chinese (albeit the language police like going after english signs mmm)

As for economy, if you think that seperation will halp anything at all you're totally wrong, Quebec has a debt that our great-grand chilidren will still be paying. That's what plaguing our economy, and seperation wont chance anything abou that.

Minus language laws, things are fine the way they are, Montreal is a 'novel' place to go visit, and hopefully in the future it can regain its world-class nature that it used to hold (before all the bogus seperation crap came up).

Sylphin you're totally wrong about this. The government is french of culture and it always was. Canada tride to swallow it up. It is only normal that the signs are in french, as the language. Would you go to Germany and start this tread and tell them, why do you guys have signs in German put some in English, or tell the waitor to speak to you in english. No because German is their culture and thats that. Also if Quebec would seperate then it would not have the Canadian debt to pay for your Grandchildren. It still would have the Quebec one. Also every country has a debt anyways. Except the US who recently cut the food supplys to Africain countries because they are not paying their war debt that the mercantilist countries made it fight. If all the immigrants children all go to english school, where would their culture and the quebecers' go? Also Montréal still has its world class status with all its diversity and all its festivals, where did you get the idea that it wasn't anymore? And i don't think its bogus seperation because it is all to preserve quebec's culture and to highten Quebec's position in the World(including Montréal)and have a better control of our policies. Just as long as we can decide all of our laws then fine i would not care to seperate.

This ongoing, neverending debate is one of the major reasons I am glad I DONT live in Quebec anymore.
