We have as much right to speak our mind on the issue as you guys do.

Everyone has the right to speak their mind, but what comes out isnt always worth listening too.

Armin is accountable to no-one. If you could disprove any of what i said, i would be very impressed.

Fair enough, there's more to trance than just THAT. My point is that there is ROOM in ASOT for stuff like that AS WELL. I realise you're just gonna say "we dont care, armin can play what he wants", but he's pioneer of the industry, can't he give us a bit of both?

There's 2 hours to play with, and these days he spends 90 minutes of it in first gear...

Tonight there was Goldenscan - Only With You, that was truly euphoric in the true sense of the word. I missed this show but i am familiar with some tracks. Fred Baker is reknowned for producing hard trancers too.

Maybe its just the time of year? maybe there are no decent trancers out at the moment worth mentioning in 2 hours. Last Summer into Autumn shows were packed with harder trance tracks. There will always be phases of less of this, and more of that.

That I can accept, and yes I loved the Goldenscan tune.

I'll try and summarise my argument in a more brief manner:

1. I'm not talking about Armin as a DJ, I've already said I liked his Global set. This is strictly about ASOT.

2. The TOTW thing was a bad example, since two tracks I like ('Adrenalin' and 'Back @ Ya') were TOTW recently. But there's not much of that stuff, he just throws in one or two which may happen to be TOTW.

3. My main point here is that ASOT used to be a bit of everything, it used to be a pie split into equal slices. But now it isn't anymore, it's biased. It's biased towards certain artists, and it's biased towards vocal fluff and McProg. The pie has massive segments and tiny segments, that's just what ASOT is becoming like.

I didn't think this would cause so much offense, especially considering I'm actually a fan of Armin who is genuinely concerned about the well-being of his show. But whatever.

Nice archive, but as you'll see I'm just as fan.

For the end of this I'll say that Armin is the one who plays, but if he didn't have an audience ASOT would be long gone as he wouldn't have anyone to play for. Currently he's got more audience than ever

people, it just comes down to people that like ASOT have shitty taste in music. just as most people in the world are idiots...these people are the musical equivalent of that. you can't teach an idiot to think logically, just like you can't teach an ASOT listener to like good music

that should get things rolling hahaah

Don't worry, I'm well aware that you're a massive fan, a bigger fan than I am. I only posted that screenshot so that you might give me some credability, and actually LISTEN to what I'm saying, since it is from the point of view of a fan and not the point of view of a hater.

And btw, I'm not responsible for any of the stuff Floorfiller just said. :P

hahaha...i'm just trying to frustrate the ASOT kids anyway hahaha...

but i agree with a lot of what you said...some of it i disagree with like that part about amatuer producers and vocals...i have a slightly different stance, but i still think a lot of us have a lot of great reasons why we feel the way we do...it just seems like a lot of people aren't willing to listen to them and understand our side of it because they are too in awe of the dj's they like because that's all they know.

Here we go again..

Right, I dont like any of the big name dj's coz they don't play the type of trance I like.

Does that mean they should change what they play?

No.

I means I should go find a dj that DOES play what I like.

ffs, it's not the hard

When I mix, I play what I like, and any fanbase I generate will be so based on them liking it too.

People should stop looking to the famous djs for inspiration and innovation, as to be famous, one tends to have to adhere to your fanbase's sound.

People who are fans of ASOT like the type of music played in ASOT.
People who are fans of GU do the same.
Dave Clarke, ditto.
Ad nauseum.

DOES IT REALLY MATTER?!?!?!?

Fair play.

I just don't like seeing a good show that I've loved for years start to decline.

Wouldn't you say it's more a case of your tastes changing?

Btw. I don't see those 2 DJs (all respect to them) drop a trance anthem, no sorry I just don't.

armin is noticed on TA, but not in the wider world of edm - in fact, he's made fun of by a lot of dj's.

and thank gawd that james z, dekay or nic fancilli don't drop any trance anthems - each of them has created their own unique sound - dekay has created "trousy" - that's what makes them so much better than armin IMO. people of the edm world are talking about these dj's and saying they are paving the way for the next generation - armin ain't doing jack shit but spinning the same old boring trance anthems.
