Alright, bare with me I have had a few tonight, but I must post. I saw Sin City for the second time tonight and have decided I am in love. This movie depicts the feel of film noir and graphic novels, as I have never seen before (including only neo-noir films). I have always loved the anti-hero in movies, the opposite of the Stalones and Schwarzenagers (spelling), and this movie has three anti-heroes that I already love. The cinemetography is excellent, and used with a clear purpose, unlike many new techniques used in movie today.
As for the discussion on colors, I felt that there truly wasn't much of a significance, as they only seemed to keep the movie from being entirely black and white (that would bore many short-attention spanned audience members). I looked at the use of blue and red, and found there to be no true correlation to bad and good. Yes, blue was predominately used as a "bad guys" color, but it also fell on the face of Owen's character. As for red being a "good guys" color, Bruce Willis' blood was white at first when he was shot, but was red later in the movie. In the context of the scenes when the colors where used they were predominately scenes that needed to pull the audience further in, to let them feel a scene. When an audience member sees a color in a black and white movie, it draws attention to that object, and in the case of Sin City, this obkect was usually the center of the scene. Anyways, I'm going to sleep I want to hear more opinions about this movie.
