....
ARmin didd NOT play PROG in october...infact that was one of the hardest sets hes played in toronto save maybe for decadence II...

Get used to it buddy...trance is changing...good trance today is what you heard in OCtober and what you will hear @ Fleming tonight....

What about Dumonde....Rank 1.....Blank and Jones....Trance has exploded in the last year in toronto. How can you call the music these people play Progressive House....

Epic trance just isnt that popular anymore anywhere including europe. This is whjy even the "trance" Djs are sounding a bit harder as of late.

exactly...its still trance Jay...but just evolving and chaanging. The idea behind the music remains the same.

when people dont know their genres right or arent able to distinguish well cos they have the most vague description in their heads, they tend to drop any name they want on it.

however trance HAS taken quite a progressive turn and it could be called progressive trance that big name trance djs are spinnig...not friggin progressive house...

Trance for me is "Tenshi". What Armin played was house. You can call it trance, but it is not.

I am not going to argue with DJ El Kay Dee or samhouse what is trance or house. I know trance, and if its changing:

then please do not call it trance when it is house.

I have listened to trance since 1995, and what Armin played was house, not trance. You guys can call it trance, but it was not trance. You guys can tell me things are changing, yet I can go to 20 stations on the net that play trance, that is not played in Toronto (or so I found, unless someone points me in the right direction.)

If you wish I can list the stations as my evidence.

DJ Irish plays trance.
DJ Ben Lost plays trance.

The type of music those DJs play is not played in Toronto.

But please, do not call house, trance.

What is your evidence ?

I fucking hate FIRE WIRE. The track is almost as annoying as happy hardcore music(if you call that music). Damn you cosmic gate!

dude maybe if you stopped living in 1995 and realised that music is evolving...you might realise a few things...

Progressive House = Danny howells, John Digweed, Sasha...Even these djs are continuously changing and evolving.

but to answer your question...the Trance YOU are describing is not played to often in toronto. There is nothing WRONG with it...my argument simply lies in the fact that you cannot call what Armin and co. play House...

At least you admit that. I will admit that what I call trance may not be what you call trance.

Genres in music branch out, I agree. What some might call "Heavy Metal" other would call "classic rock" or "glam rock".

Enough said. But what I hear on the internet radio that calls itself trance is from Europe and it is more euphoric, epic, not bass, bass, bass like house.

I agree either way.

He may play trance on internet radio (which I think he 100% does) but not what I heard last Oct.

Rspects to your opinion. I have mine.

Meh, so his set sounded a little housey (or techy, which is how it sounded at decadence), that doesnt mean its his "genre."

Its up to the djs to spin what they want. I don't care what ANYONE says, DJ's are there to play whats popular, not what they want. It doesnt have to be a popular track, it just has to be a popular style. If a dj played freaking polka, you think many of us would go see him spin? in toronto, this hard bangin music is what is popular, so expect it to be the majority over here. You want epic? go where its popular.

I apologize if I come off sounding rude, but its just the way things are. A DJ is not going to spin something that isn't popular, because no one is going to go to their next show, their managers wont find them another show to book, and later on, albums wont sell. its not good business.
