Come party in Toronto... you'll find trance quite alive and well

I doubt 1/2 of these guys have been out on a party

People believe it's the same experience.

You've just degraded yourself imho.
People like you that never go out, don't see the real impact of the music, no wonder you're sitting at home then and writing trance is dead, when you don't go out to see what it does on the dance floors.
What a joke.

His tracks became so popish...

"Erm, they use exactly the same wave forms for leads in every other electronic music genre. The waveform has nothing to do with originality, its what you do with it that counts."
With new waveforms there will be new possiblities.
Right now we are locked on supersaws.
Uplifiting trance can be uplifiting without supresaws.

I can think of no more wave forms which aren’t a) physically impossible, or b) variants on the ones we’ve already got. Stop moaning and start being creative with some new ideas if you don’t like what’s being made.

Alternatively if you’re bored with trance listen to something else. If all the trance producrers are 'locked' into super saws, inventing new wave forms won't make a difference - they'll still use the saws.

Omg pvd sux0rs its no longer 1998 omg wahhh remember when music roxked?!?!threeve10fourteen!!1

Maybe YOUVE lost YOUR passion and you no longer have wonder left in you.

Remember the Far Side comic where Peter Pan is in a cubicle?

Even though Peter had married Wendy, had children, and found a decent job, he still thought back to Wonderland sometimes.

Regain the feeling!

You can do whatever you want to make it "original" but make sure you keep the feeling. You can produce the the most original arty-farty sound you like, but if there are no goosebumps you can fuck off. That's what trance is, that feeling; everyone who listens to trance knows what I'm talking about.

Creating new sounds requires an engineer, not an artist, and who wants to let engineers produce all our trance. Too many people are too quick to announce trances death and insist on something radically different. That's not how it works. Trance will evolve in time. It doesn't need to change in one sudden jump. We didn't jump from The Beatles to Marilyn Manson in 5 years. That's the problem with progressive IMHO, producers so desperate for something new and original, so caught up in the details, that they lose touch with the average fan who just wants to feel good, Tiesto being the classic example.

Just produce what you like and ignore all the trance philosophizing, and "I want to be different" yearnings, because all you'll do is start producing crap, and still not be different because now your part of the "I want to be different" crowd. Just be you.

I'm not trying to say that trance is dead.
But I'm really conserened that we'll become what we don't want to be.
Pop artists.
