OMG, we have another brainiac in the thread now....
So, what you're saying is that once a station is off the air for a couple months, despite having a 20+ year run on the air and were pivotal in showcasing artists that no one else would play, their 'flow is gone'? Where do u want me to begin???
Before you were even 10 yrs old and nowhere near old enough to get into Buzz, it got shut down by authorities for several months (in fact, this happened on 2-3 separate occasions over the years). < And THAT is why Buzz goes by the name Cubik- Nation didn't want the heat of having the Buzz name attached to their club (just a little bit 'o history for ya). If we go by your 'formula', I guess that means they woulda lost their flow too, and you've been living a lie for so long.... (sarcasm) Trust me-if there never was a WHFS station, there would be no Buzz in DC. Know your roots.
Again, I understand your lack of interest in this lineup based on your age- like I said, this lineup appeals a lot more to an older crowd, which is fine by me. If it actually attracts an older crowd, it would be even better. The 1st HFStival or 2 were really good, but then the young rednecks & young kids from the outer counties all found out about it and started coming. Dumb kids who think its cool to crowd surf and slam dance to even the slowest of ballads. Even dumber were the guys who think its cool to molest and / or strip the girls who went up to crowd surf. If this lineup can keep morons like that away, power to them.
Back in the day, I knew a lot of the bands of the Vans Warped tour, but since I've been listening to EDM for about 85% of the past decade, and since I've moved to Toronto I've hardly gone to any concerts (as opposed to my 1-5 live shows/ week in DC), I've lost touch w/a lot of new acts. I'd be lucky if I recognised 3 acts on the (very large) Warped tour lineup last year, but in no way would I say 'it sucked' just cuz I wasn't familiar with the bands.
In a way, I'm glad the EDM tent won't have any acts I'm incredibly interested in, so as not to lure me away from the main stage. Besides, from friends who have attended in the past where the Buzz tent was present, the idea of spending time in a hot steamy white tent w/a buncha young kids trying to use glowsticks in the daylight, is something I am comfortable missing out on.
