hmm... i wonder if it is possible to retro-fit the drivers into a better casing though... cause i like my phones to enclose my ear... not nessecarily the 700's, but maybe a cheaper model with the dj features... that's all sony needs to do and they'll have the greatest headphone ever for dj's

Woah woah woah.... you just said "cause i like my phones to enclose my ear..." Uh, that means that you want the earpad to go AROUND your ear, rather than laying ON your ear, correct? If that is true, than you should say, "I like Circumaural headphones better than supraaural headphones." And, if that is the case, there is a very easy, very nice mod to make the MDR-V6's circumaural. You just add those pads from Beyerdynamic!

yea... i just said it in plain english though... most of us here don't have the extended vocabulary... ooo, look at teh record go around... and i digress... anywho... yes i do want the cirumaural or whatever you said that go around my ear... it helps in a high volume situation to hear the beat you're matching
i'm sure that there's someone out there who would like to disagree with me, go ahead, this is just MY personal preference

Uh, sorry about the whole vocabulary deal....

but, anyways, yea, get the pads, they will improve comfort, isolation, bass, tame the highs a little, etc.

Question

Help! The more I hear about those Sony MDR-V6 the more I want them. But where can I get them in Germany?! I searched the net back to front and found not one German distributor. Can anyone help me?

Some more questions though:
Are they easy to drive? i.e. can I plug them directly into my soundcard/portable (I don't think I'll take em along but anyways)

I currently have the Audio Technica ath-PRO6. I have not found any infos about their quality on the net. (yes, I searched the headwize forum) I personally like them alot but maybe only because I've never heard anything better.

Given the circumstances could you perhaps recommend some other headphones (ones I could get in Germany)? I'm on a budget and don't want to replace my not so cheap headphones for something just marginally better. I want 'big' ones that go around the ear (circumaureal as I've learned but supraaureal should be fine also.) Blocking outside noise would be good (to mask my loud PC and anyone trying to disturb my listening experience ) Swivel would be nice too ("for DJ use" as my old ones say). Looks are not an issue they just have to be comfortable.

I think I could manage to get those Koss UR-20 but they are relatively expensive! (compare: i remember you said around 25$. Here they are about three times as much!)

[edit: i meant Koss UR-20 but wrote KR-20]

Well, you're in germany. You have Beyerdynamic and Sennheiser for the CHEAP.

The Beyerdynamic DT250-80 is better sounding than the V6's, more accurate, but it doesn't fold.... but, other than the folding deal, it should be GREAT...

The Sennheiser HD25 is good, too!

Here, check this out! (By teh way, MDR-7506 = MDR-V6)

http://www.head-fi.org/forums/showt...=&threadid=3955

just search headwize and head-fi for audio technica, if you want...rather than a specific model number, maybe?

HOWEVER, these *are* expensive headphones, even if you get them for relatively "cheap", LOL!

That's cause you have small ears. With the normal pads, if you have small ears, they go around them, if you have big ears, they go on them. With the Beyer pads, the headphones will generally go around them, no matter what size ears you have.

Cool

I noticed not a lot of you mentioned the sennheiser hd25 phones.. I think they're the best dj cans you can get.. I've had the sonys, technics, but i find the sennheisers the best.. U don't even realise u have a set of cans on ur head sometimes! That's how comfy they are! Maybe the cord is a bit short but you can always buy an extension for it..

k-cee, yes, I do know those... in fact, check this thread that I linked to earlier for a comparison of the MDR-V6's (the 7506's), the HD25's, and the Beyerdynamic DT250-80
