Are you fucking kidding me? It is about the most fashionable thing among idiots in their late teens to early thirties to do. I can't think of many things that are more fashionable to do.
Its nice to see you guys poke jabs at ikea, coke, and mcdonalds, like you're such rebels. We all know corporations do anything to make a dollar, whats the surprise? And whats wrong with that? Thats what nearly everybody in this world is trying to do.
You can't even begin to put down corporations, because you live off of them. You would be nowhere without them. No matter how much you want to say you don't eat at mcdonalds, and you don't shop at the gap or whatever bullshit you wish to speak, you live off of major corporations, nearly everything you eat, and own in your house is linked to corporations that you would probably call "corrupt." And you know what? If they went away you would all be crying. Its rare that anybody creates a thread about how great the corporations are. How much money they are spending on developing new technology. How much money certain car manufacturers spend developing safer vehicles. You all just think it makes you look cool to talk shit about corporations because they are bigger than you. You're like school children throwing shit at the teachers to look cool.

It's your exact type of response that I'm referring to - cynics are seen as making a fuss for the sake of it.

OK OK! I admit I have a rebellious streak. I live off a scholarship, which is (just) enough for me to have everything I need, so at the moment I'm quite happy. Money matters more to some people than others. But it's those that get so obsessed with it that it takes over their lives that I'm poking fun at.

I'll believe that when I see it!

Well yeah I guess it is human nature to want to hate people that have acheived more than we have. It's just nice of companies like McDonald's to give us a pretty good excuse to do so!
I take your point though, and I agree with you in principle. I realise that society would be entirely different if it weren't for these kind of companies. But that's not the point. The point is that when we discover these hidden truths, we just wonder what else is going on that we don't know about...

I couldn't disagree more. We absolutely do NOT need the corporations...The only reason we live off of them is because they and our governments leave us no choice. They show us thousands of ads per day, making us think that the only way to be a prosperous individual is to consume products! Everything you listed isn't what makes corporations good...it's what makes them bad. They provide us with everything we eat? About 90% of the food today is genetically modified by these corporations in order to make it look better, taste better, sell better...Yet we don't even know what's in it, because they don't give us time to question their actions with all the ads and stupidity they throw at us through the news. It doesn't bother people that a single corporation can make your food, supply your drinks, build your house, fund your government AND dictate what you see pretty much every step of your day through the media? Sure, corporations make safer cars and shit like that...But they don't give a fuck about the people when it comes down to it, the only reason they'd make a safer car is to turn it into a marketing campaign, making more people buy it and increasing their profits. All they care about is profits, nothing else. You may say people are all like that, that if you were in the same position as some CEO you'd be doing the same thing...But that doesn't make it ok. That's whats wrong with the world today. The media has put such an emphasis on money, and buying and consuming products that we don't have time to think about anything else.
