That's a pretty stupid reaction. the french only re-elected Chirac because they didn't want to have Jean-Marie Le Pen (fascist) for president.

After having been so stupid not to vote in the first round of the election - basically voting for having the choice between Le Pen and Chirac. It's not as if God himself ordered you to chose between those two - it was a predictable result of your electoral system combined with indifference on behalf of the voters.

I don't hear too often a French speaking against their country. And thus the bewilderment.
