I remember seeing Tiesto in Concert (the first one), the mix into Naranja was pretty sik.

i dont have the dvd or a sample though, sorry. Maybe someone that has it can help me out.

If i base it based soley on the recorded tiesto sets ive heard, tiesto isnt the greatest mixer out there. However, every time ive seen him live, he's been pretty good at mixing.

The fact is Tiesto has recorded/broadcasted more sets than probably every other dj out there. More chances to fuck up mean more fuck ups, and so people hear it and DEFINATELY wanna complain about it.

i understand what you are saying. But when was the last time tiesto made you say wow, that was really good?

I was there at even though I like Tiesto, that was a totally abysmal performance. It just seemed like he couldn't be bothered throughout the whole thing. The set had no flow he only really mixed a few of the tracks I saw (I left at about an hour and a half in) and the rest were just fader slams with some minor wrecks interspersed. It was a dissapointment and I'll be the first to say that Armin kicked his ass when he came here in October. I still think he's a good DJ, but he just seems to be all over the place as far as mixing goes and if I remember correctly he got pretty good reviews when he performed in Detroit the following day.

In essence, Tiesto mixed well enough, to put his work straight onto CD. THat's not easy... When your gonna record a set, to slap onto a CD, u really have to prepared, and aware that you can't fuck up...

when they record livesets like that, they record the tracks to different channels and fix any "errors" later on

When I saw him live and he dropped Traffic (ok, I know I will get flamed for that, Traffic is overplayed and simple, OH MY!). No one can deny that song owns the dance floor.

Listen, Tiesto is more of a producer than a technically strong DJ. We all know that, if you want someone who is going to cut up tracks go see Holden. Tiesto can drop his signature tunes and slightly tweaked versions of tunes that can kill at just the right time like no other. He doesnt do 5 minute transitions or play 4 different tracks at once, so don't expect it.

And sorry about the show in Chicago, he must have been having a bad day, (or maybe got stiffed by the venue, it happens see: Santiago) all I can say is that everytime I've seen him he has been killer.

noooooo you missed the point. I was talking in the sence of mixing. I can drop Traffic just as well as Tiesto... But that doesn't make me #1.

It's the song selection that makes him what he is today. Every liveset i've heard with the exception of Disney (which actually was pretty good) kept me groovin' and on my feet.
