I agree with the others in that your track isn't up par with professional productions, but I think you've got potential. Just keep at it.

thanks for the yousendit link Shepless! sorry it has taken me so long. I have a 56k at home so I had to find a faster connection. Here's the URL to download:

edit: URL expired

ANY comments are welcome. Anything that would help me produce better would be great! If you like the song, please support the record label and buy the CD "osmotic pressure" comming out in a few weeks. You can get it here through lowroof/deepsink records and there are much more experienced producers on there than me!

I really had expected more, it sounds like cheap computer game music

Sorry, this track is ultra cheesy, nothing original, perhaps the structure is a little bit unconventional

And I won't buy the "osmotic pressure" CD btw.

Interesting bunch of ideas, but poorly produced.
Just keep practising - you aren't label material yet, that's for sure. But you'll get there eventually.

it might sound cheesy cause I was going for the classic rave sound. Do you think achieved that?

what is it that makes it poorly produced? How can I improve?

No.

I think as mentioned previously, it sounds like video game music. The reason for this is that the melodies are very "bleepy" and "happy". Everything sounds too "clean". It's too weak.

I think perhaps your ideas could be adapted to achieve a "classic rave sound". For that however, you really need to beef up the energy levels. Layer percussions, give the track some drive, some danceability.

Am I actually listening to the right thing here? Because bar the start of the clip the only percussion I could make out was a bassdrum, I think. :/

Geez they still release old tracker music??

If you're trying to go for a trance release in this day of age, then yes it is poorly produced.. If you're making music releases for old mod-tracker geeks, then it's cool.

yeah you need a real kick if you want it to sound good for today.. try layering a higher end kick ontop of what you have, and make sure you filter propperly... the the resonance on that little hooveresque sound is quite annoying might wanna turn it down...

and the melody is so cheeeeeesey... The lack of percussion like MK-S stated, adds to the cheeseyness... and if you do add some good beefy percs it'll start sounding like a pro trance production and not like a fasttracker competition entry. It sounds like you're trying to achieve a happy trance sound like Cosmicman... It you havent heard of Cosmicman or Sundawner, you should check him out and try to make a track more in that ballpark. It's happy, silly trance music, but excellent production and totally danceable.

Seriously, I don't know what kind of candy those ravers who signed your tune are on... This is perfectly fine for a MOD tracker competition, but not for vynil release.

Yeah...the song isnt so great, but the ending is quite cool. I actually liked the computerey blipps and the melody in the last 30 seconds...too bad the track wasnt more like that.

Keep up tho bro!

oh shit? is this really a Christian label? No wonder they signed your music! You probably told them you were glorifying God in the process of making this track or how God showed you a revelation that you had to become a DJ to save millions of lost souls. And there were actually losing songs in this competition? What was the criteria to win? whoever loved Jesus more?

Seriously, you Christian dudes have to stop this crap! Just because the song was made with the intent to glorify the lord, doesnt mean your song is any good! This is exactly the kind of bullshit I was talking about in the last Christian track post. You guys are making yourselves look like morons! If you want people to take Christians seriously, it's about time you start acting more realistic, and start realizing this is crappy music and there is good music (even tho opinions and musical tastes slightly differ... facts are facts and a track that is produced well is notable from a poorly produced track).

If I were God and heard that you were trying to praise me with this shit, I'd strike a lightning bolt. You (and your label) are no better than Cain, from the Bible, who gave God the halfassed sacrifice.
